New campground for Ipswich, Scenic Rim regions

Caravanners and campers invited to enjoy getaway with nature.

A new facility for campers and caravanners offering a spectacular nature-based experience – with WiFi – will open in the Ipswich region.

Operators of the Ivory’s Rocks Caravan Park and Camping Grounds said it was the first private facility of its type to open in Queensland in 20 years.

It is part of Ivory’s Rock Conventions and Events which is set on a 600ha property near Peak Crossing, 20km south of Ipswich.

The campground, which can host 200 visitors per night, is taking bookings from 27 June and will operate from Thursdays to Sundays.

Ivory's Rock rent-a-tent

Ivory’s Rock Chairperson Joy Winnel said it was excited to open a new destination for campers and caravanners.

“We are pleased to be offering a beautiful place for people to put up their tent or park their caravan and get out in nature again,” Ms Winnel said.

With the opening to coincide with school holidays, the location is expected to be popular with families looking for a nature-based experience while not giving up home comforts.

“With wallabies hopping about and koalas to spot, our campgrounds are surrounded by native bushland yet campers can still enjoy creature comforts such as powered sites, laundry facilities, WiFi and even a number of private bathrooms,” Ms Winnel said.
Along with camping and caravan sites, Ivory’s Rock will also offer air-conditioned twin bunkhouses and has plans for a “rent-a-tent” service in the future.

Walking trails around Ivory's Rock will open to the public from July with guided tours allowing guests to explore the private property and enjoy spectacular views.

Located just off the main road between Ipswich and Boonah, the campground is an ideal base for visitors to explore the Ipswich and Scenic Rim regions.

The property backs onto Flinders-Goolman Conservation Estate (Mt Flinders) and the Ipswich-Boonah Trail.

Ivory’s Rock Conventions and Events is known as a unique venue for large music events, festivals and conferences as well as smaller group activities and retreats.
