Film review: Night School

Synopsis:

Night School tells the story of a group of troublemaking adults forced to attend night school in the hope they’ll pass the GED exam and finish high school.

Our Review:

If you want to see a movie to switch off and simply have a laugh, go and see Night School.

Night School centres around Kevin Hart’s character Teddy, a high school dropout who loses his job and has to get his GED (year 12 certification) for reemployment. He is forced to go to night school at his old high school, where he is reacquainted with an old “school mate”. Girls Trip’s Tiffany Haddish leads the class full of high school drop outs and works with them to achieve their long-awaited goal of passing the GED test.

There is a lot of silliness, a bit of repetition and a few laugh out loud moments. Unfortunately, the film doesn’t explore the hilarity of Tiffany Haddish nearly enough.
