North Star Holiday Resort celebrates 40 years of holidays
Family-friendly caravan park an enduring attraction.
Generations of holidaymakers have called North Star Holiday Park, Hastings Point, their home-away-from home.
From humble beginnings in 1980, owners Ian and Diane Beadel have transformed the park into New South Wales’s only five-star caravan park.
Mr Beadel said he was proud many families returned to the park year after year.
“We’ve come a long way over the past 40 years and are proud to now welcome ‘generations’ of guests, many of whom have spent annual family holidays at North Star since we first opened,” Mr Beadel said.
“Some first came to North Star as children. Now they holiday here with families of their own. It is not unusual to have three generations of one family, all holidaying together at North Star.”
Spread across 10ha of tropical gardens, the caravan park is nestled between the beach and the Tweed Coast’s tidal estuary, offering year-round swimming, surfing and fishing.
Families can take advantage of the park’s free kids club, holidays programs and two-storey aqua playground, while parents escape to the on-site day spa and adults-only pool.
Explore the region
There are myriad things to do and see at Hastings Point and the Tweed Coast region.
North Star Holiday Park is just a short bike ride to Tourism Australia’s Best Beach 2019, Cabarita Beach, known for its great surf, antique shopping and scenic walking trails.
Located just 15 minutes from the park, Farm and Co Kingscliff gives visitors a taste of country living. Feed Hank the pig, pick macadamias, enjoy a coffee and grab an Instagram-worthy pic in the sunflower field.
If you’re into craft beer you can’t go past Red Earth Brewery, just down the road from North Star. Located on an avocado farm, the brewery is open Friday–Sunday with live music and pop-up food stalls each week.
If spirits are more your thing, head to Husk Distillery at Tumbulgum. Set on 60ha, the family-run distillery specialises in locally grown botanicals and ingredients. Take a tour of the working distillery and enjoy a meal, a tasting paddle or a “paddock-to-bottle” cocktail.
