RACQ MotorFest returns with new date and venue

The cars of tomorrow will join classics from yesteryear at the new-look MotorFest 2021.

Chrome bumper classics and rumbling V8 muscle cars will rub guards with silent electric vehicles at this year’s RACQ MotorFest, which has a new mid-year date and home at the Brisbane Showgrounds.

After a COVID-impacted 2020, RACQ's annual celebration of all thing’s automotive returns on Sunday, 13 June, at the new venue and with a fresh focus on the cars of tomorrow.

MotorFest's new Future Zone is a dedicated area where the automotive industry will showcase some of the exciting new features and innovations available in the latest vehicles.

From hybrids to plug-in-hybrids, battery electrics to fuel cells, home charging stations to high-voltage fast chargers, Future Zone will showcase the new technologies reshaping the modern automobile.

Of course, MotorFest hasn't forgotten about its roots and will continue to celebrate classic cars and motorcycles while also providing the fun, festive, family atmosphere for which it is renowned.

As with previous years, there will be free entertainment for kids along with rides, face painting and roving entertainment.

There will also be a wide selection of market stalls and food trucks to keep visitors fuelled throughout the day.

After the success of online judging last year, it will continue this year, with a key difference being the return of a physical display for the hundreds of vehicle entries expected.

As before, there is a category for most vehicle types including American, Asian, Australian, British, European, Motorcycle, Veteran and Vintage.

Those interested in exhibiting are encouraged to register and submit photos and information on their vehicles at racq.com/motorfest.

Winning entries, including this year’s outright winner, will be announced at the event.

"Last year’s online judging was an amazing success, in a year where many of us became all-too familiar with using online tools in our everyday work,” said RACQ’s Lucinda Ross.

“But with the COVID-19 health scare now less prominent, it will be wonderful to physically showcase some of the amazing cars, bikes and trucks that are such an integral and interesting part of the fabric of Queensland’s motoring history.

“The fact MotorFest is evolving with a growing focus on the cars and transport innovations of the future is also exciting.

“RACQ MotorFest will showcase to Queenslanders the exciting options that are out there beyond the internal combustion engine, from hybrids to hydrogen cars, charging systems and much more.

“With its combination of the hi-tech cars of tomorrow, right alongside the chrome bumper classics of yesteryear, RACQ MotorFest is undoubtedly one of the most unique and exciting motoring events on the calendar.”
