Regional Flavours rocks South Bank
Catch a demonstration from Katherine Sabbath at Regional Flavours.
Queensland’s largest food festival takes over South Bank Parklands on July 21 and 22 with more than 80 producer market stalls, celebrity chef demonstrations and a pop-up riverside bar.
This year you’ll also enjoy a liquid taste of Queensland through the Pot Shot Ale Merlo Coffee, a beer and coffee combination from Fortitude Brewing and Merlo Coffee.
Dean Merlo, founder of Australia’s largest independently owned coffee company Merlo Coffee, said the fruity flavours of Kenyan coffee suited the light style of beer being used.
“Drinkers will get more of a coffee aftertaste with Pot Shot Ale than a big, bold punch of coffee flavour,” said Mr Merlo.
High school teacher turned Instagram cake-maven Katherine Sabbath is one of the guest chefs presenting at Regional Flavours. Her sprinkle-filled creations are larger-than-life and packed with more colour and quirk than you can poke a spatula at. Fortunately, they can be healthy too. Katherine will whip up a raw, vegan and refined-sugar free rainbow cake during her session which will make even the most sticky-fingered sweet-tooth ask for seconds! Watch as Katherine builds a rainbow dream, sprinkling the session with frivolity and exciting tales from her so-called “cake life”.
Other celebrity chefs include MasterChef Australia Judges, Adam Liaw, Spencer Patrick, Josh Lopez, Alexander McLeod, Cameron Matthews, Sarah Wilson and Paul West.
Feeling hungry? Regional Flavours is home to a vibrant producer market with stalls from across the state. You can work your way through local wine, rich desserts, crisp seasonal fruit and vegetables, flavoursome jams and sauces, creamy nuts and cheeses plus plenty more.
Look for exciting new products such as Kehoe’s Kitchen pro-biotic beverages, cashew-based cheeses and yoghurts, camel milk products, kombucha and kefir drinks, as well as fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, spices, tea, honey, and Queensland wines.
Regional Flavours is open from 10am-5pm on both days, except River Quay which opens until 8pm, and The Hunting Club which opens from 5pm-late on Friday 20 July and until late on both other days.
