Footy, family and failure
Sponsored content: Jane Clifton (Prisoner) stars as the domineering single mum trying to keep her family together in this grudge match of epic proportions.
Centred around the Aussie holy trinity: footy, family and failure, Spencer by Katy Warner is a new comedy-drama telling the story of a regular family from the 'burbs whose lives are upturned at the discovery of the youngest son’s illegitimate child, Spencer.
Over the course of one weekend, the fractured family is forced to reunite and repair relationships in preparation for the arrival of their newest member.
Familiar faces Jane Clifton and Roger Oakley head up the broken family as estranged spouses, Marilyn and Ian. The complex family dynamic is rounded out with an experienced cast including Lyall Brooks as the eternally-disappointing son Ben, Fiona Harris as surly smart aleck Jules, and Jamieson Caldwell as Scott, whose progeny from a barely memorable one-night-stand is the very reason the family is back under one roof.
Spencer plays QUT Gardens Theatre 23-24 August 2019. QUT Gardens Theatre presents professional theatre from around Australia in an intimate inner-city Brisbane theatre.
