Stone & Wood brewery set to open in Brisbane
Craft beer lovers will soon be able to taste their favourite brews in Fortitude Valley.
Byron Bay’s local craft beer, Stone & Wood, will soon be made in Brisbane with a new brewery opening in Fortitude Valley in mid-2019.
The Stone & Wood team recently opened a new brewery on Centennial Circuit in Byron Bay and have now secured the Trails Ltd Ice & Cold Stores heritage building on Bridge Street in Fortitude Valley.
Stone & Wood Project Manager Anthony Cook said Brisbane had always played a big part in their story.
“We have both supported and been supported by the amazing craft beer scene in Brisbane for 10 years,” Mr Cook said.
“We’ve been fortunate enough to take on a heritage warehouse in Fortitude Valley.
“It was built and owned by the Trails family and housed one of the first Ice & Cold stores in Brisbane.
“The fun challenge for us is going to be bringing the Stone & Wood vibe to the building while paying respect to what is already a beautiful building with tremendous character.”
Mr Cook said the new brewery would offer a pure Tasting Room experience with new beers to try on a regular basis.
“For anyone who has visited the Stone & Wood Brewery in Byron Bay, they know they can expect great hospitality done the Stone & Wood way,” Mr Cook said.
“We are not trying to operate a pub or bar; the venue will offer a pure Tasting Room experience.
“We will be installing a small pilot brewery that will be pumping out new beers that are unique to the venue on a regular basis.
“As part of our commitment to keeping things local, we strive to sell at least half of our beer within a three-hour drive of the brewery, and this means Brisbane is well and truly in our backyard.”
