Sunshine State offers holidays fun and adventure

There is no shortage of ways to enjoy your school holidays across our state. Here are some suggestions.

Tee off at Topgolf

Whether you are an absolute beginner or a season pro, Topgolf offers great fun for all. Get some mates together and head to the Gold Coast attraction where you will hit micro-chipped golf balls into giant targets from your very own bay, scoring points when you hit them. And if golf isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy the food, drinks and music on offer. Click here for RACQ member discounts.

Visit a Gold Coast theme park

Dreamworld and WhiteWater World are sporting fresh new looks after re-emerging from their COVID-19 shutdowns. Visitors to WhiteWater World can experience the park’s newest ride, Fully 6, which offers six individual body slides of varying thrill levels. Dreamworld also kept busy during the closure period, upgrading many of the park’s facilities including the iconic SideWinder rollercoaster. The first major event for the re-opened Dreamworld will be the popular Happy Halloween on selected nights in October. Click here to find out about theme park deals for RACQ members.

Fly high indoors

Have you always thought skydiving sounded like a good idea but the idea of jumping out of a plane seems too terrifying? Then iFly Australia may be your answer. The indoor skydiving facility at Westfield Chermside gives you the chance of enjoying the thrill of skydiving in its state-of-the-art vertical wind tunnel. RACQ members get a 10% discount.

Escape in Ipswich

Escape rooms are a real-life puzzle experience where small teams are locked in a themed room and must work together to escape.  Work with your friends to find clues, solve riddles, unlock locks and doors, and solve the puzzle before your time runs out. Seraphim Escape in Ipswich offers a family-friendly Christmas-themed Santa’s Cottage room where the objective is to help get on to Santa’s nice list, and the more difficult horror-themed Executioner’s Toolshed and Atonement rooms which would suit horror fans.

Fun under the stars

Townsville locals and visitors can enjoy Wonderland Under The Stars – a pop-up open-air performance space featuring circus, music, physical theatre, and fun ¬– from 18 September – 6 October in Strand Park. It is one of the many events being held as part of the North Australian Festival of Arts which runs from 18 September – 25 October.
