Sweet surprises at Sarina

Must-see attractions in the heart of the Mackay region’s sugarcane country.

Sarina is a town of sweet surprises in the heart of sugarcane country 35 minutes south of Mackay on the Bruce Highway.

The Sarina Sugar Shed is a multi-national-award-winning agri-tourism attraction that celebrates the rich history and promising future of the Mackay region’s sugarcane industry.

Sarina Sugar Shed is Australia’s only miniature working sugar mill and distillery, offering interactive tours and insights into the region’s sugar industry.

Tours operate several times a day, seven days a week. This experience is a feast for the senses, as visitors can taste, touch, hear and see a miniature sugar mill and distillery in production.

Best of all, at the end of the tour, you can sample all the delicious liqueurs, rums, sauces, and fairy floss that are made on site.

After indulging in the sweet delights of the Sarina Sugar Shed, explore the newly refurbished Sarina Field of Dreams (pictured below).
