Switch to save

More than 18% of Australians are expected to switch mobile phone providers in 2019.

Just one month into the new year and Australians are already reassessing their finances, re-evaluating their new year’s resolutions and looking at ways to improve their health.

According to new research conducted by Finder, 56% of Australians are sick of paying too much on bills and are pledging to make a switch this year to save money.

Of the 2010 people who were surveyed, 18% planned to switch mobile phone providers, 16% would switch energy plans and 14% would change their internet provider.

Finder’s editor-in-chief Angus Kidman said saving money was at the forefront of many people's minds after the festive season.

“Cost-cutting is the main reason householders will jump ship, and it can result in huge savings,” Mr Kidman said.

“More Australians are shopping around than ever before and they’re looking for the best deals.

“For a family under pressure, every dollar counts.”

Generation Y (those aged 24-38) were found to be more inclined to switch, with 70% keen to find a better deal in 2019, compared to just 41% of Baby Boomers (those aged 59 and above).
