Vision RV: VH Hybrid Series

Check out the new hybrid caravan range available on the Sunshine Coast.

Driving through Ngkala Rocks at K’gari (Fraser Island) without getting bogged or damaging your vehicle is an accomplishment for any 4WDer, let alone tackling the track while towing a caravan.

Sunseeker Caravans has achieved the unthinkable by designing a new range of off-road hybrid caravans, Vision RV, which are capable of handling Ngkala along with some of Australia’s other most notorious tracks.

Vision RV’s first model is the VH Hybrid Series which comes in a 12, 14 and 16-foot layout.

Vision RVs are produced locally on the Sunshine Coast using components sourced from multiple businesses in South East Queensland with their hot-dipped galvanized chassis and suspension are manufactured in Toowoomba.

Sunseeker Caravans Founder and off-road enthusiast Chris Michel said the vans were specifically built to stand the test of time with durable materials and clever methodology behind their construction.

“We have taken a caravan and compressed it down as opposed to getting a camper trailer and making it a bit flash,” Mr Michel said.

“We are very experienced at building off-road caravans and we have been compressing them down without sacrificing the comforts that you like as being a caravaner and that’s really important.”

Drawing from his own off-road experiences, Mr Michel and Vision RV team have built the hybrid vans to handle sealed and unsealed roads, gravel, dirt tracks, medium to steep gradients, sandy or rocky terrain, sharp undulations and corrugated dirt roads.

“The Vision RVs are completely timber-free and feature German engineered fibreglass high density  composite construction with aluminium fabricated cabinetry which makes them stronger, lighter and more water resistant,” Mr Michel said.

Each van includes a heavy-duty storage box, firewood rack, two jerry cans, twin 4kg gas bottles, two spare wheels as well as recovery points on the rear. There is even an onboard air hose and holding tank for tyre inflation and cleaning.

Some of the standard inclusions are fully adjustable independent airbag suspension, ventilated disc brakes and an Australian-made hot-dipped galvanized chassis.

The entire range has an electric roof raiser and awning, a gourmet external hinged kitchen and an external slide to accommodate a portable fridge.

“Our focus is on the creature comforts – just because you want to be compact and more adventurous doesn’t mean you don’t want the comforts when you get there,” Mr Michel said.
