What to watch these holidays

Angry Birds Movie 2

The pigs and birds are sworn enemies but when a new foe threatens Bird and Pig Islands, the two sides are forced to come together to save their home. Starring The Hangover’s Jason Sudeikis, Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage and Crazy Rich Asians’ Awkwafina, this sequel is a must-see these holidays.

Artemis Fowl

Based on the young adult books by Eoin Colfer, Artemis Fowl (Ferdia Shaw) must hunt down fairies with the help of his servant Domovoi Butler (Nonso Anozie) to restore his family fortune and rescue his father. The Disney film – directed by Kenneth Branagh – is long overdue for fantasy fiction lovers.

The DC Universe is set for another blockbuster revival and Todd Phillips’ Joker will be the first cab off the rank. Joaquin Phoenix will be stepping into the role which will explore the Batman villain’s back story as a failed comedian turned psychopathic murderer. The only question is – can Joaquin’s performance stand up to Heath Ledger?

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

Angelina Jolie is back as Maleficent, but the newly-minted hero of the Sleeping Beauty saga still has a dark side. Maleficent is torn between good and evil when Aurora (Elle Fanning) finds true love and a stepmother very different to her own.

Zombieland: Double Tap

Zombieland rule number two – always double tap. Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin and Emma Stone return for round two in this zombie slaying comedy, but zombies aren’t the only thing the team has to face as they encounter fellow survivors and their own emotional upheaval.
