World's best airport revealed
Did Australian airports make the list?
While coronavirus has put international travel plans on hold, it didn’t stop the search for the world’s best airport.
Singapore’s Changi Airport took out the top gong in the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2020 to be crowned the World’s Best Airport for the eighth consecutive year.
Runners-up included Tokyo Haneda Airport and Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar.
Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted said Changi continued to prove difficult to beat.
“Singapore Changi Airport remains a very popular choice with customers and delights at nearly all points in the airport journey, and it is this attention to detail that proves so popular,” Mr Plaisted said.
“This year also marks the first time that customers have been able to recognise Jewel Changi Airport, a multi-dimensional destination filled with inspiring attractions, unique retail and dining concepts.”
The awards were based on a global customer satisfaction survey which evaluated experiences across different airport services, including check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration through to departure at the gate.
Melbourne and Brisbane international airports ranked in the top 25 World’s Best Airports.
Melbourne Airport took out Best Airport in Australia/Pacific and Adelaide Airport claimed top prize in the Best Regional Airport in Australia/Pacific category.
