Mary Valley Rattler Love Train
There will be a lot of ‘steamy’ love in the air when the Mary Valley Rattler transforms into the Love Train for Valentine’s Day.
Couples are invited to board the train at 5pm at the Gympie station for a magical sunset journey. Guests will enjoy a ride on the vintage Mary Valley Rattler, a 1951 steam locomotive with plenty of character. It is one of the sole remaining steam engines operating in Queensland.
Enjoy nibbles, drinks and onboard entertainment whilst taking in the beautiful surrounds of the Mary Valley.
On arrival at Amamoor Station, guests will be served canapes and bubbles on the platform while the train turns around. The round trip takes about two hours.
Upon returning to Gympie, enjoy a cocktail-style party with canapes and live entertainment from the Doo Wop Girls until 9pm.
Plus, if you think the time is right, proposals are encouraged. You bring the ring and they’ll provide the bubbles!
Tickets are $99 per person. maryvalleyrattler.com.au
Sunshine Coast Asian Food Festival
The Sunshine Coast Asian Food Festival will be hosted for the third time this February at the picturesque Spicers Tamarind resort at Maleny, located in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
Head Chef Daniel Jarrett will oversee the afternoon of culinary delights, with various food stalls each offering their own unique dish. There will also be six beverage stalls for those who are thirsty.
Wine lovers will be well catered for with a riesling masterclass held by sommelier Peter Marchant. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket to sit in the Tamarind amphitheatre where there will be live entertainment to keep everyone thoroughly entertained. 2020 will be the first time the event will be 100% waste-free, meaning no water bottles, plastic bags, cutlery or straws.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own keep cup for coffee and a reusable water bottle as well. Bottles and cans will be recycled through the Containers for Change program which will see the funds reinvested into local Scouts programs. Tickets will start at $69 for children and $99 for adults. spicersretreats.com
