Out and About

Historic town comes to life with four-day festival of food and fun.

2022 Childers Festival

The Childers Festival, an annual highlight on the Queensland events calendar, will once again stop traffic on the Bruce Highway as the historic town comes to life with colour, food and culture.

The festival, which kicks off on Thursday 28 July culminates in the famous Childers Festival market day on Sunday 31 July.

Located less than four hours’ drive north of Brisbane and attracting visitors from across the country, Childers Festival is an exciting and colourful showcase of regional community spirit.

In a jam-packed four-day program, the quaint town will showcase its rich history, celebrate its multicultural roots and delight with the talent of local artisans as hundreds of market stalls line the streets of Childers on the Sunday.

New events will feature throughout the four-day festival, including the transformation of Crescent Street into Little Italy on the Saturday from 4pm–9pm.

A number of food vendors and entertainers will come together to set the scene, delighting the senses with a range of Italian food and flavours and plenty of `la musica’.

Festival Day will follow on the Sunday where the Bruce Highway will be shut and Childers will turn into an action-packed entertainment hub, hosting celebrity artists, including the likes of Kate Ceberano, and live music from every genre and decade.

The incredible markets feature a highway filled with stallholders where you can pick up vintage treasures, sample local produce and admire hand-made gems and local arts and craft.

Those young and young at heart will also be mesmerised by dance, culture, street performers and carnival rides.
