How to take a swing at winning $1 million
The Outback Queensland Masters series has a new list of towns ready to host travelling golfers in 2024, culminating in the $1 million hole-in-one shootout.
The 2024 Outback Queensland Masters series will start in June from the most remote golf course in Queensland, the Birdsville Dunes Golf Club.
The schedule will then include Boulia, Winton, Barcaldine, Charleville and the final event in Quilpie where players can take a swing at winning $1 million if they score a hole-in-one.
Tourism and Sport Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said this year the Outback Queensland Masters attracted players from every state, with some travelling some 10,000 km to compete.
“Since its inception in 2019, the Outback Queensland Masters has gone from strength to strength, generating millions of dollars in visitor spend for the remote communities of Outback Queensland, and in 2022 generated 13,062 visitor nights and contributed $1.89 million to the Queensland economy,” Mr Hincliffe said.
Quilpie Shire Mayor Stuart Mackenzie said his council had been a great supporter of the Outback Masters since the concept was first proposed.
“We may be 1,000km west of Brisbane and have a population of under 1,000 people, but it doesn't stop us from attracting signature events such as the Outback Queensland Masters,” Cr Mackenzie said.
“We are so excited to have the finale here next year for a weekend of laughs, entertainment and of course, golf.”
