Festival of Small Halls brings music to regional Queensland communities

A popular music festival visiting some of Queensland’s smaller venues has another busy schedule ahead this year.

Folk duo Van Dijk & Mcdonald will be part of the Festival of Small Halls music festival.

Festival of Small Halls has announced that Kellie Loder and Van Dijk & Mcdonald will feature on their upcoming Spring Tour 2024.

Presented by festival producers Woodfordia Inc, the not-for-profit music tour is embarking on its 41st tour.

With a packed schedule of 20 shows across four weeks, this tour will visit new and past destinations.

Heading up to the red dirt and dinosaur trails of Muttaburra, the tour will work its way through the South Burnett and Banana regions, down to the border towns of Texas and Ballandean in the Goondiwindi and Southern Downs regions.

Canadian musician Kellie Loder (pictured) will be travelling to Australia to join the Queensland tour as part of her inaugural Australian visit.

“I am beyond excited to bring my music to Australia for the first time in my career,” Kellie said.

“I'm so very grateful that I'll be introduced to such a beautiful place through being a part of one of the greatest festivals there is.”

Folk duo Van Dijk & McDonald are looking forward to playing fresh music and mixing with locals during the tour.

“It’s thrilling to be back on the road filled with such rich memories of previous tours,” Jan Van Dijksaid.

“It’s the stories from the locals from each town that stick with you the most afterwards.

“There’s something wonderfully reciprocal in the act of travelling significant distances in order to share your music, and then when you get off stage being rewarded with such generously personal stories from audience members about themselves, the community and the unique history of the surrounding lands.”

Festival of Small Halls Spring Tour 2024 starts on 25 September at the Booubyjan Hall before continuing to another 19 regional Queensland communities, concluding in Mapleton on 20 October2024.
