Audi A1 TFSI Sport (2012)
by Barry Green,reviewed April 2012
Based on the top-spec Audi A1 Ambition but offering more standard features, the A1 Sport comes pumped with tuned sports suspension and a dual-charged (turbo and super) 136 kW, 250 Nm, 1.4-litre TFSI engine teamed with seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission.
We had previously driven the Sport in a closed (track) environment, where it thrived when put under the pump, handling quick changes of direction and steering input precisely and gripping tenaciously. This time, in a real world environment of everyday driving, the A1 Sport proved nearly as endearing, though the ride quality is a little too firm, boot space too small and fuel usage thirstier than its ADR average.
