Kia Cerato Koup (2010)
by John Ewing,reviewed February 2010
The coupe version of the Cerato, the Koup, looks the business.
It’s dressed in a sleek, aggressively styled body that panel-wise shares nothing except the bonnet with the sedan on which it’s based.
On the road, performance from the Theta II engine with the same outputs as the sedan doesn’t feel underdone nor particularly sporty. The five-speed manual gearbox and clutch aren’t the smoothest we’ve used.
The Koup, with its lower stance, sharper steering and suspension revisions, corners with greater authority than its sedan sibling, adding a sporty feel.
Comfortable sports seats up front add appeal, as do the standard features. Rear headroom is tight though. At this price, Koup deserves to enjoy popularity.
