Mazda2 Maxx Sedan (2010)
by John Ewing,reviewed December 2010
The new Mazda2 range now includes a sedan. Its hatch siblings are offered in three specifications, while sedan buyers can have any specification they like, as long as it’s the mid-spec Maxx.
This means buyers aren’t exactly short-changed for safety features and standard equipment. Reach adjustment on the steering would be welcome though.
For a light car the cavernous boot (450 vs 250 litres for the hatch) is particularly practical.
On the road the Mazda2 also garners praise. It’s one of the class leaders for nimble handling and good road manners. The engine is peppy and responsive, while the five-speed manual box is pleasant enough to use. There’s a four-speed auto option also.
