Volkswagen Jetta 125TDI Highline (2010)

by John Ewing,reviewed April 2010

The Jetta, deservedly popular with Australia’s Best Cars judges, has recently been updated including revised equipment, engines and drivelines.
The premier turbo-diesel model in the range, the 125TDI Highline, gets a 125 kW, 350 Nm engine mated to a standard six-speed DSG.

It feels keen from the outset and musters extra verve through the mid range. The gearbox’s swift shifts and well-chosen ratios ensure the 2.0-litre diesel gets along willingly. Official combined consumption is respectable at 5.9 litres/100 km.

Highline’s standard sports suspension, combined with optional 18”, 40-series rubber on our test car, delivered a typically taut ride and nimble road manners.
