When will an assessor/builder attend my property?
After a severe weather event, access to properties in a disaster area may be restricted for several days which may impact the assessor/builder’s ability to access your property.
In most cases your claim will be directly appointed to a builder who will attend your property and assess the damage. In some circumstances, such as more significant damage, an assessor may also attend to support with the inspection. Given the significant number of homes impacted, we are prioritising those with more severe damage.
If your claim has been allocated to one of our builders, they will call and arrange a time to inspect and quantify the damage to your property. The builder will also provide RACQ with a list of damaged contents, quote for the remediation of damage to your property and provide a ‘scope of works’ to repair the property back to a pre-flood condition. The builder will discuss the options for replacement of items and guide you through the next steps in the process.
