RACQ provides insurance cover for cars and motorcycles against loss or damage. All our car insurance policies give customer access to our 24hr Queensland call centres and Selected Repairer network. Each policy also includes cover for damage to other people’s property and loss of damage to your vehicle when an uninsured third party is at fault.

An excess payment on your car insurance is the amount of money you are required to pay when you make a claim on your policy. Essentially, it’s the amount you agree upon to contribute to the cost of the claim.

The cost of car insurance varies significantly and there are a lot of factors that may influence how much premium you pay. The main factors that have an impact on the cost of your car insurance are:

  • Your policy type: Comprehensive cover costs more than Third Party Liability because it includes more benefits.
  • The driver/s: Young drivers are statistically more likely to have an accident, so will usually pay more premium.
  • Your car: The make and model of your car, repair costs, general performance and safety record are all factors in assessing how much you will pay on your premium.
  • Where you live: If you live in an area that has previously had a high number of claims (e.g. theft and malicious damage), your premium will likely be higher.
