Home Insurance Comparison FAQs

House Insurance covers the exterior of your house (the bricks and mortar), the roof and the structures of your outbuildings (like sheds and garages). It protects you against fire, flood, damage, loss and theft related to the physical structure of your house/property.

Contents Insurance covers the things inside your home, such as appliances, furniture, electronics, jewellery and items not permanently attached to the building. It protects your belongings if they are damaged, destroyed or stolen. Make sure you read the PDS, any applicable Supplementary PDS and relevant Key Facts Sheet to ensure your belongings will be thoroughly covered.

RACQ offers a range of excesses to choose from so you can select an excess to suit your needs. If you choose a higher excess it will decrease the policy premium you pay up front however you will have to pay more towards a claim.

The sum insured should reflect the full cost to rebuild or replace your home and contents at today's prices, should you ever need to. The cost to rebuild on a new-for-old basis can be more than the market value of your home due to materials, labour and current building laws.
