RACQ sets up support hub in Ingham

RACQ Chief Executive Insurance Trent Sayers said RACQ’s Mobile Member Centre will be based in the town’s centre and will be open from Saturday for members wanting face-to-face support.
“We appreciate it can be a distressing time for residents as they return to their homes and access the damage for the first time,” Mr Sayers said.
“We urge members to visit or call us as we can help them navigate the claims process.
“The Mobile Member Centre is also equipped with air-conditioning, WiFi and connection points for members to charge their phone and personal devices.”
As at 10am, Friday 14 February, RACQ had received 733 insurance claims, including 515 for home and 218 for motor.
“Our builders have been completing emergency make-safes where needed, and assessors have been meeting with members to understand the damage to their homes, vehicles and belongings,” Mr Sayers said.
“From what we have seen so far, a number of homes in Ingham have experienced significant flooding and will require significant repairs.
“With the rain now easing and humidity at extreme levels, we urge residents to ventilate their homes. This may help reduce the growth of mould.
“RACQ is well prepared and equipped to support our members through the recovery. We have a strong network of suppliers and builders across the north who are being mobilised to manage the repairs.
“Our members right across North Queensland can be assured that we will be on the ground in the community as long as it takes to recover.”
