The countdown is on to Queensland's largest annual event, the Ekka.

The countdown is on to Queensland’s largest annual event, the Royal Queensland Show, better known as Ekka.

Held at the Brisbane Showgrounds from 10-19 August, Ekka showcases the best of the Sunshine State and attracts visitors, vendors and entertainment from across Australia.

Sideshow Alley remains a favourite with kids and adults alike, with more than 100 rides and 380 different types of showbags.

If food is more up your alley, you can’t go wrong with some traditional Ekka favourites including the famous strawberry sundae, Dagwood dog and fairy floss.

Experience a slice of country life on the popular Animal Boulevard, which includes the RACQ Animal Nursey, Cradle-a-Chick, Pat-A-Pig, Sheep Shearing, Horse Breeds Expo and the ‘Legendairy’ Milking Barn.

Beyond the farm life and livestock are garden expos, food tasting stations, fashion parades, firework displays and live music.
