Barefoot Bar & Grill

Relaxed dining overlooking the Noosa River.

To get a true taste of Noosaville’s Barefoot Bar & Grill, we interviewed owner and head chef Dave Shaw about his restaurant and menu.

Dave has more than 30 years’ experience as a chef, previously working at the Hilton in Brisbane and in the Gold Coast. He spent three years in Japan in fine dining and has worked on boats as a private chef for prominent families.

After living in Port Douglas for 27 years, he decided to move to the Sunshine Coast to be closer to his family and to enjoy swimming in the ocean without the fear of crocodile encounters.

Now he runs the Barefoot Bar & Grill restaurant at Noosaville, providing locals and tourists with a relaxed dining experience near the Noosa River. We asked Dave a few questions to find out what diners can expect from Barefoot.

What type of cuisine do you serve?

Our cuisine is primarily modern Australian. We’ve incorporated many cuisines – it’s all about the delicious flavours!

Does the restaurant have a signature dish?

For breakfast, I would say the Zucchini and Corn Fritters with poached eggs. For lunch, it would have to be the Coriander Panko Crumbed Fish with house-made Barefoot Fries. For dinner, it would be a coin-toss between Chilli Salted Chicken Wings and Kingfish Sashimi with Nahm Jim. Also, I can't leave out the Moqueca (Brazilian fish curry).

Are your ingredients sourced locally?

We always try to source our ingredients locally. Our eggs are from Phat Belli Farm and our seafood is straight from the local boats as they arrive.

Do you cater for vegetarians, gluten free and vegan?

We can cater for everyone.  Our chefs are flexible, so if you have any allergies or dietary requirements they can prepare a meal to suit.

Is the restaurant pet-friendly?

We love dogs! We have a lovely outdoor dining area and provide water bowls and dog treats.

What craft beers do you stock?

We are stocking local beers from the Sunshine Coast region. Some include Land & Sea’s Kolsh (Noosaville), Your Mates’ Larry (Moffat Beach) and Brouhaha’s Middle of the Road (Maleny).
