Central Queensland enjoys feast of festivals

A packed schedule of events returns to the Capricorn region to entertain locals and visitors.

A series of festivals will fill the central Queensland events calendar in the coming months.

Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll said she was thrilled to see so many events back on the calendar in 2021 and encouraged locals and visitors to support upcoming events.

“Festivals are bringing a new lease of life across our destination, and it is wonderful to see such a fabulous and diverse line-up of events over the coming months,” Ms Carroll said.

“The Southern Great Barrier Reef destination is fast becoming incredibly popular for its diverse terrains, beautiful beaches, top-class tours, attractions, accommodation, retailers and world-class events, all of which is continuing to put us on the map and increase visitation.”

On 23-26 September, the picturesque Rockhampton Riverside Precinct will come to life for the ninth annual Capricorn Food and Wine Festival.

The celebration of local food, hospitality, music and bespoke culinary events will welcome foodies, wine connoisseurs and everything in between.

The festival hosts numerous events at the site and venues around the region, including degustations, masterclasses, cocktail parties, cooking demonstrations and more.

Yeppoon Lions’ Tropical Pinefest is back from 1-10 October, featuring a street parade, fireworks display, markets, cocktail party, progressive dinner and beachfront family entertainment.

The Bravus Rockhampton River Festival will bring the city’s riverfront precinct to life once again from 22-24 October with arts, culture, entertainment and dining experiences.

After COVID stopped last year’s celebrations, the Emu Park Lions Club is excited to host the return of its Oktoberfest (Emu Park) on 23 October.

Head to Bell Park, Emu Park, with your best costume for a day of singing, dancing, laughing, eating and toasting all things German.

For more German-inspired fun, visit the Capricorn Food and Wine Festival’s Oktoberfest (Rockhampton) on 30 October and enjoy a large selection of beer, cider, wine and food.

On 20 November, Rocky Sports Club will host the fourth annual CQ Beer and BBQ Festival.

The event’s signature World Motorised Esky Racing Championship will be a highlight along with a performance by country star Casey Barnes.
