Dog-friendly parks and beaches

There’s no need to put your pooch into a boarding kennel when you take a Queensland holiday. There are numerous options, with plenty of dog-friendly parks and beaches for you to enjoy with your best mate. Here are a few playgrounds to consider.

Salisbury Recreational Reserve

This Brisbane area features a dog park for active play. The fenced reserve features two playgrounds, biking and walking paths, as well as flower gardens, that make it a wonderful place for the whole family.

Upper Kedron Recreational Reserve

This fenced reserve offers quirky artwork from recycled materials among its natural beauty. Brightly-painted concrete tunnels allow for imaginative play and the large sand area, combined with swings and slides, make this reserve a great way to spend an afternoon. Dogs must remain leashed but will enjoy the open spaces and shady retreats.

Beanland Street Dog Park

This dog park features an enormous, grassy space for free play. Being one of the most popular dog parks around, your dog will enjoy socialising and playing with new friends. You can rest and relax at a shaded table or beneath the trees while your pooch exhausts itself running around.

Elanora Park

This park features a biking and walking path, skate park and playground. Your kids can play while you relax under a covered patio. There are picnic facilities and a fenced area where your unleashed pooch can run wild.

Stoner Family Park

This Cairns park features a spacious area where unleashed dogs roam freely. Enjoy the fitness station, playground or sports fields before cooking up a meal on the barbecue. There’s something for everyone in this open green space.

Machans Beach

Another beachside playground in the Cairns area, this beach is perfect for a quiet morning or evening walk with your dog. Your kids will enjoy the water too, while you rest in the shade, or join them for a swim.

Trinity Beaches

Both North Trinity Beach and South Trinity Beach are pet-friendly sanctuaries. There’s a sand bar that gently slopes into the sea, making it perfect for small children and pets alike. Since the beach is short, you, the kids and pets can play in the water or you can watch them play while you relax in the shade nearby.
