Food trail foraging in south-east Queensland

Feeling hungry for local food, or want to wander the region searching for the perfect foodie find?

Dive into the new South East Queensland Food Trails site to discover the best produce in your own backyard.

It started as an idea to get residents and visitors to spend more time exploring south-east Queensland and developed into a free, online platform of SEQ Food Trails. The trails enable users to create and share their own food trail experience from hundreds of destinations throughout the region. 

Travel to farm gates and produce markets, restaurants and cafes, breweries and distilleries, enjoy food themed events and try all types of street food.

Council of Mayors (SEQ) Chair Cr Graham Quirk said south-east Queensland was emerging as a premier foodie destination through the diversity, quality and authenticity of the experiences available to residents and visitors. 

“South-east Queensland has an abundance of stunning coastline, lush greenery, beautiful sunshine and some of the most fertile agricultural land in the world – all within easy driving distance,” Cr Quirk said.

“The SEQ Food Trails package all of this up and makes it easy for people to explore our region.  

“The site is free for visitors to use and for businesses wanting to be a part of the SEQ Food Trails.

“I would encourage food lovers and producers across south-east Queensland to visit seqfoodtrails.com.au and try it out for themselves.”  

The online platform has been developed by the Council of Mayors (SEQ) in collaboration with participating south-east Queensland councils, and modelled on the Sunshine Coast Food Trails created by Visit Sunshine Coast and Tourism and Events Queensland. 

You can choose to make your own trail through Brisbane, Logan, Lockyer Valley, Moreton Bay, Redlands, Scenic Rim, Sunshine Coast or the Toowoomba region. The featured trails will take you on a seafood hunt, exploring North Stradbroke Island and around the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Celebrity chef and Lockyer Valley food ambassador Alastair McLeod has hand picked his favourites in this region.
