Kick up your heels at Groundwater Country Music Festival

A Gold Coast event is ready to build on its reputation as one of Australia’s fastest-growing country music festivals.

A stellar line-up of talent has been booked for the eighth Groundwater Country Music Festival.

The first announcement of performers at Groundwater this year is headlined by country music queen Kasey Chambers.

Chambers said she was excited to be returning to the festival at Broadbeach from 24-26 July.

“We absolutely loved playing to so many enthusiastic music fans at such a great festival last time,” Chambers said.

“It’ll be so much fun and is always such a massive party atmosphere.”

Other highlights on the first announcement of artists include Shannon Noll, Sunny Cowgirls, Gina Jeffreys, Brad Butcher and The Audreys.

Groundwater Festival Director Mark Ducks said the combination of a top-quality list of country music stars and the Gold Coast’s world-famous tourist attractions meant this year’s event would deliver another great party atmosphere.

“There’s something special about having a music event propped up against the beach that just makes it a celebration,” Mr Duckworth said.

“From artists to fans, everyone is in a great mood and ready to get their party on.”

Last year’s festival attracted crowds totalling more than 70,000 and was recognised at the 2019 Queensland Tourism Awards, taking out the top award in the “Festivals and Events” category. It then won gold at the 2019 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards

The free festival allows patrons to enjoy more than 130 hours of entertainment in locations throughout Broadbeach’s streets, parks, bars and restaurants.

Groundwater Country Music Festival is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland and features on the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar, forecast to be worth $880 million to the state’s economy in 2020.
