Stanthorpe's Johnny Cash Country Festival
Sponsored Content: Following the outstanding success of last year’s event, the Johnny Cash Country Festival will be on again from 2-3 November.
People may not know Johnny Cash and his wife, June Carter, were regular visitors to Stanthorpe throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
Johnny and June formed an immediate and long-lasting attachment to the town’s friendly people and the surrounding countryside.

The Cash’s affection for the town inspired Australia’s first and only genuine Johnny Cash Country Festival last year, organised by Stanthorpe Music Enterprises, which was so popular it’s now an annual event.
The highlight of this year’s two-day event will be a concert performance from Dale Hooper with his The Tennessee Drifters – recognised as one of Australia’s best Johnny Cash Tribute bands.
Last year, the band performed a spectacular selection of Johnny Cash classics to the delight of the audience. This year, they have even more in store and will be supported by three country and rockabilly groups.
Stanthorpe Showgrounds will again be the main venue, with entertainment kicking off from 3pm. Pre-concert activities will include a Johnny Cash film evening on Friday, followed by a super line-up of entertainers, singers, competitions and more and in the town centre on Saturday from 9am to 2pm.
