Mahindra releases all-new PikUp

The Mahindra PikUp comes to market with an updated, 103kW/330Nm turbo diesel engine, all-new six-speed gearbox, totally new interiors and inclusion of ISOFIX child restraints with top tether standard on all Dual Cab models.

The PikUp is available in two specification levels: the base model S6, designed with function and value in mind, and the S10 which Mahindra says offers SUV-like-specification.

Under the bonnet is an updated 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel which makes use of a variable geometry turbocharger to produce 103kw and 330 Nm between 1600 and 2800rpm.

The unit is linked to a six-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels, with 4×4 transmission and low range and an Eaton MLD (Mechanical Locking Differential) as standard.

Major changes are to the front of the vehicle where the grille, headlights, bonnet and foglamps have all undergone redesign. The cabin has also come in for an upgrade, with new upholstery and inclusion of a six-inch full colour touch screen display on the S10 Double Cab models.

The S10 Dual Cab further benefits from remote central locking, cruise control, satellite navigation, reversing camera and multifunction steering wheel. Fully Automatic Climate Control is standard on all S10 variants.

Safety features such as Hill Descent Control, ESC, ABS, EBD, roll-over mitigation, airbags, crash protection crumple zones and a collapsible steering column are standard across the range.

Four variants were available at launch:

  1. Single Cab 4×4 S6 Cab Chassis.
  2. Dual Cab 4×4 S6 Cab Chassis.
  3. Dual Cab 4×4 S6 with factory well-side tub.
  4. Dual Cab S10 4×4 with factory well-side tub.

From early 2018, the 4×2 Single Cab variant will became available in 4×2 S6 Cab Chassis.
