Power of the petals

Over the years, the annual Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers event has flourished into a breathtaking 10-day festival of flowers, flavours and sounds.

The carnival’s success skyrocketed last year with 255,639 national and international visitors – the highest attendance on record.

For the third consecutive year the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers has won the Gold Award for a Major Festival and Event at the Australian Tourism Awards and is featured in the Australian Tourism Awards Hall of Fame.

Toowoomba Regional Councillor, Geoff McDonald, said the award was a stunning achievement in the event’s 70th year.

“Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers has become a true tourism force to be reckoned with, having won the Queensland Tourism Award for four years in a row, and now dominating the national category for three years running,” Mr McDonald said.

“Wait until we celebrate 70 years at this year’s event, there’ll be even more joy to be had.”

The carnival takes place each September with more than 60 unique events and experiences across the southern Queensland city.

Visitors can enjoy award-winning parks, stunning private gardens, streets bursting the floral colour, internationally acclaimed musical artists and some of the best food and wine in Queensland.

The Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers program will be announced on 30 April and take place 20-29 September.
