The best live music venues in Queensland

A night spent enjoying a quality, live performance is something anyone of any age can appreciate.

We are lucky to have many excellent live music venues across Queensland that are sure to provide an excellent night out. Here are some of our favourites.

The Triffid - Newstead, Brisbane

The Triffid is a quirky little gem located just off the busy main street of Fortitude Valley. It’s constructed from a disused commercial hanger and has been turned into a fun, atmospheric bar and performance space.

What makes this place so cool? It is owned and created by John Collins (JC) from Australian rock band Powderfinger. JC proves he knows exactly how to entertain a crowd with an outdoor pop-up beer garden, with food and drinks served from shipping containers.

The Triffid offers a space for locals and tourists to call their own. With an eclectic mix of musical talent, you’ll never be bored or disappointed.

The Avenue - Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast

This fun and exciting venue is sure to impress all foodies and beer connoisseurs. There are 15 beers on tap, a creative list of quirky cocktails and a delectable menu to suit all tastebuds. The Avenue is one of only a few places in Australia that pours Carlton Draft from copper tanks.

It also provides guests with a beautiful indoor/outdoor venue full of personality. It has a wide range of music artists playing on all evenings, and the venue also hosts comedy and trivia nights.

Joe’s Waterhole (Est.1891) - Eumundi, Sunshine Coast

If you’re on the Sunshine Coast and looking for a good time, Joe’s Waterhole could be the spot. Located opposite the famous Eumundi Markets, this place is known to pack a punch in the small, sleepy town.

The venue has been transformed into a modern music destination, attracting visitors from Brisbane as well as locals from all over the Sunshine Coast. Some of the country’s top touring musicians, as well as international artists, consider it a worthy detour to perform here.

Joe’s also has Woodcutters Bistro, which offers an excellent menu featuring local produce. It's well worth the 20-minute drive from Noosa to enjoy to music and atmosphere in this unique historical venue.

Russell Tavern - Dalby

This tavern provides a great venue for all sorts of occasions. It has a large space that can cater for weddings, birthdays and work functions, yet maintains a family-friendly atmosphere.
