The story of Queensland through music

A time capsule of Queensland history accompanied by a live original score.

Fancy your music with a bit of history attached? You’re in for a treat with Brisbane composers, Topology’s, latest show Queensland at Home.

ARIA nominated for Best Classical Album (Share House) in 2014, Topology have teamed up with the Queensland State Library for Queensland at Home, a performance of original music set to historical footage of early 20th century Queenslander homes.

The performance, scored by Topology’s Robert Davidson, features music from students around Queensland, thanks to the group’s award-winning regional music education program, Top Up.

Top Up gives Queensland students the chance to compose their own musical score to be featured alongside the Queensland at Home performance.

Top Up education manager John Babbage is after family home movies and historical images to feature in the Queensland at Home performance.

“We would like to invite members of the community to help preserve Queensland’s history and be a part of Queensland at Home,” he said.

“If anyone has any film footage or photographs dating before 1930, we would love to incorporate these in our performance.

“These will then be used as the back drop to the live performance of music written by local students and members of the community.

“It would be great to meet anyone from local historical groups or musicians who might also be interested in being part of our performance”.
