Guinness World Records is home to some of the craziest feats involving cars ever recorded.

Most participants in a car race

The most participants ever recorded in a car race was 216 at the 24 Hours of Lemons racing series at Thunderhills raceway park, California on 13-14 September 2014. The race was won by the Cervez Racing Team who finished 180 laps during the 14.5-hour race.

Most expensive car

The most expensive car sold in a private sale was a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO (4153 GT) racer which was purchased by David MacNeil in May 2018 for $99,544,900 ($70m USD). The Ferrari is regarded as one of the rarest cars in the world, with only 36 ever built.

Farthest arrow fired and caught in a moving car

The farthest arrow fired and caught in a moving car is 57.5m. The arrow was shot at 215km/h and caught by a man standing out of the sunroof of a Škoda Octavia RS 245.

Most expensive car registration

The most expensive licence plate sold was the single digit ‘1’, which was sold to Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Khouri of the United Arab Emirates for more than $20 million ($14,213,750 USD).

Fastest car crash survived

Land-speed-record racer Art Arfons was lucky to survive a crash in his jet-powered vehicle which was travelling at 981km/h when the crash occurred. The right front wheel sized, sending the car tumbling for more 1.5km across the Bonneville Salt Flats. Afrons was pulled from the wreckage and miraculously suffered only cuts and bruises.

Fastest police car in service

Police in Dubai won’t miss much, with officers able to patrol in a Bugatti Veyron. The Veyron has a top speed of 407km/h and a 0-100km/h speed of 2.5 seconds.

Fastest car window opened by a dog

Striker the border collie set the record for the fastest time a dog has unwound a non-electric window in 11.34 seconds. Striker used his paw and nose to perform the record attempt.

Longest time to kiss a car

Love your car? Ernesta Hernandez Ambrosio and Jesús Juárez Vite might have you beat, after spending 76 hours kissing their car from 10–14 October 2013.

Most consecutive cars jumped over on a pogo stick

In 2017, Dalton Smith of the XPOGO Stunt Team set the world record of three consecutive jumps over a car on a pogo stick.
