Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers unveils music line-up
Food, wine and music a highlight of month-long festival.
The multi-award-winning Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers will take place for the full month of September this year, an extension of the past 10-day event program.
The carnival’s Festival of Food and Wine will celebrate local produce and Australian music from 10-12 September.
Festival headliners include iconic musicians Grace Knight, Wendy Matthews, Richard Clapton and GANGgajang.
They will be joined over the three days by Sarah Blasko, Ash Grunwald, The Beautiful Girls and nine emerging musicians including Toowoomba local Jame Ryle.
Chair of the Toowoomba Regional Council Environment and Community Services Committee Cr James O’Shea said the line-up would celebrate “the best in Australian music and our regional flavours”.
“This year we are excited to welcome music makers who have created some of our country’s biggest anthems, as well as more local musicians than ever before, in a wonderful three days of celebration,” Cr O’Shea said.
Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers had bloomed into a major Queensland event.
“This year’s extended event will mean even more visitors will be able to experience Toowoomba’s iconic carnival during the region’s most spectacular time of year,” Mr Hinchliffe said.
Other highlights of this year’s carnival include the Grand Central Floral parade on 18 September, twilight tours of Laurel Bank Park and the #trEATS regional food trail which shines the light on cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs with floral inspired dishes.
