How to make your car insurance claim

Check your insurance policy
Please take a moment to read your policy documents to find out what you’re entitled to claim:
- Certificate of Insurance for your policy (you’ll find this on My RACQ)
- Your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and any applicable Supplementary PDS

Gather your documentsHave the following information handy before you call or claim online, so that we can process your claim faster:
All incidents
- Your name, phone number, email and address
- A brief description of what happened including the date, approximate time and location of the incident
- Contact details of any witnesses
- Photographs (where possible) of damage, point of impact and vehicle position
- Police report number (if applicable)
- Details of loss or damage you’d like to claim under specific benefits (e.g. baby seats, personal property)
- Details of any other people you’d like to authorise to discuss your claim (e.g. your spouse or solicitor)
Incidents involving third parties
- Names, phone numbers and addresses of any third parties
- Photographs of damage to the third party’s vehicle, the position of their vehicle, and their registration plates
- Description of the third party’s vehicle
- The third party's insurance details
- Third party and/or witness descriptions and diagrams of the incident (if there is a dispute)
