Terms and conditions are subject to change without notice. We will use reasonable endeavours to notify you of any changes to the terms and conditions by placing a notice on our website.

Roadside Assistance can be purchased by persons with an Australian residential address and certain Entitlements may only be provided to Drivers with an Australian residential address (evidence of which may be required).

RACQ reserves the right to decline any application for, or renewal of, a Roadside Assistance product at any time.

From time to time, RACQ may, at its discretion, provide additional Entitlements to some Members or undertake trials of alternative Entitlements involving some Members. Participation will be at RACQ’s discretion.

What is covered? 

Where your Covered Vehicle suffers a Breakdown, we’ll try to get it mobile again for you. If we can’t, we’ll have it towed within your Entitlements. From that point any repairs are at your discretion and cost. Depending on your Roadside Assistance product, you may also be able to access other Entitlements to help you get on your way.

Please note, Entitlements will not be provided for a problem that pre-existed or occurred before purchase of the policy or within an applicable waiting period.

Roadside Assistance does not cover you for an Insurable Event and is not a substitute for motor vehicle insurance. Where a Breakdown occurs in a Remote Area, RACQ may be able to assist but you may incur an additional cost. 

Certain Entitlements will be subject to a maximum aggregate annual entitlement (and individual Entitlements may be subject to sub-limits). View Maximum Entitlements and the terms applicable to individual products for further details. You will be responsible for the costs of Services which exceed your applicable Maximum Entitlements.

Any Specialist Equipment and/or additional labour for the Entitlements set out in these Terms and Conditions may result in you incurring additional costs.

 

RACQ Everyday Lite

RACQ Everyday Lite is our Personal Mobility Device (PMD) product, aimed at assisting Queenslanders’ changing mobility needs. 

Who is covered?

Your RACQ Everyday Lite product entitles the Member, to assistance while in Queensland with any privately owned Eligible PMD at the time of the Breakdown.

Types of PMDs which may be covered include:

  • Scooters
  • Bicycles
  • Electric Scooters
  • Electric Bicycles
  • Mobility Scooters
  • Wheelchairs
  • Electric Wheelchairs
  • Any other PMD which meets eligibility requirements

Waiting Period

A waiting period of 48 hours applies to all Entitlements from the start date of the RACQ Everyday Lite product. This waiting period for Roadside Assistance Entitlements can be waived if the member chooses to pay an Immediate Service Surcharge. 

Roadside Assistance

Should your Eligible PMD suffer a Breakdown, we’ll try to get it mobile again for you.

Service Inclusions
Assistance available 24/7 Roadside assistance available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (subject to call outs Entitlement)
Call outs Up to 4 call outs per annum, subject to the terms of our Excess Use program.
Attendance Our RACQ Service Providers will travel up to 50km to you when you experience a Breakdown (subject to your annual call out Entitlements).
PMD Transport

Up to $25 per Breakdown, up to $100 p.a.

Scenario 1: Where PMD Transport is required, a standard taxi or ride share will be provided where a member can, unassisted manoeuvre the device into the boot/luggage compartment.

Scenario 2: Where scenario 1 is not applicable, a maxi taxi will be provided where a member can, assisted via a hydraulic lift and trained operator manoeuvre the device onboard a maxi taxi.

Scenario 3: Where scenario 1 and 2 are not applicable, provision of a specialised trailer up to a transport distance of 10km from the point of Breakdown may be available in circumstances where a device cannot be manoeuvred onboard a wheelchair accessible maxi taxi. In areas where this service is not available a tow truck can be arranged.

During all transport arrangements, the operator will not be able to assist with lifting a person off/out of the mobility device, or into the designated transport method. Should this limitation prevent RACQ from assisting with your personal transport need, we can contact a nominated support person or Queensland Ambulance Service on your behalf.

One instance of PMD Transport is available per Breakdown, and will be counted as one of the four call outs available p.a.

RACQ Everyday

RACQ Everyday is designed to meet your daily commuting needs if you drive shorter distances.

Who is covered?

Your RACQ Everyday product entitles any Driver of your Nominated Vehicle to roadside assistance after a Breakdown.

Waiting Period

A waiting period of 48 hours applies to all Entitlements from the start date of the RACQ Everyday product. This waiting period for Roadside Assistance Entitlements can be waived if the member chooses to pay an Immediate Service Surcharge.

It is your responsibility to inform RACQ promptly of any change in details, including residential address, Nominated Vehicle and other relevant information. These details may affect your Entitlements.

Towing If the Nominated Vehicle cannot be made mobile on the roadside, we can arrange for towing up to 20km in any direction, or, outside of the Metro Area, up to 50km to the Attending RACQ Service Provider's Premises or Intermediate Location.

Caravan or Trailer cover

Roadside assistance can be provided for Breakdowns and Wheel Changing on Eligible Caravans or Trailers when they are connected to the Nominated Vehicle.

In the event the Nominated Vehicle suffers a Breakdown and requires towing:
The Eligible Caravan or Trailer with the Nominated Vehicle can be towed under the same conditions as the Nominated Vehicle, within the product Entitlements, provided it can be towed behind the attending tow truck.

In the event the Eligible Caravan or Trailer, but not the Nominated Vehicle, suffers a Breakdown and requires towing:
RACQ Everyday will not cover any tow charges if an Eligible Caravan or Trailer (but not the Nominated Vehicle) suffers a Breakdown and requires towing.

RACQ Everyday Plus

RACQ Everyday Plus is designed to offer added assistance while you're out and about in your Nominated Vehicle.

Who is covered?

Your RACQ Everyday Plus product entitles any Driver of your Nominated Vehicle to roadside assistance after a Breakdown.

Travel Entitlements will only be provided if the Driver has an Australian residential address. RACQ may request that the Driver provide evidence of this. Where evidence cannot be provided RACQ may decline to provide the Travel Entitlement or require the Driver to pay for the relevant Travel Entitlement.

Waiting Period

A waiting period of 48 hours applies to the roadside assistance services. This waiting period for Roadside Assistance Entitlements can be waived if the member chooses to pay an Immediate Service Surcharge. If the member pays the Immediate Service Surcharge, during the waiting period roadside assistance will be provided for the Nominated Vehicle in accordance with the Entitlements of the RACQ Everyday product.

A waiting period of 72 hours applies for all other Entitlements from the start date of the RACQ Everyday Plus product. 

A 72-hour waiting period applies to a change of the Nominated Vehicle for Entitlements. During that waiting period roadside assistance will be provided for the new Nominated Vehicle in accordance with the entitlements of the RACQ Everyday product.

It is your responsibility to inform RACQ promptly of any change in details, including residential address, Nominated Vehicle and other relevant information. These details may affect your Entitlements.

General Entitlements

You are entitled to a Maximum Entitlement of up to $1,100 p.a.

RACQ Everyday Plus entitles you to general entitlements on the nominated vehicle, available up to the specified allowance, anytime per subscription year.

Emergency Fuel 10L up to 3 times p.a.
Specialist Towing Up to $110 p.a.
RACQ Everyday Lite The Member will be entitled to the service inclusions of the RACQ Everyday Lite product in respect of Eligible PMDs.

Local Entitlements when under 100kms from your home address

Should your Nominated Vehicle or an Eligible Caravan or Trailer with your Nominated Vehicle suffer a Breakdown, and has been towed to a Place of Repair, you may claim a combination of the following entitlements up to $55 per annum.

  • Taxi 
  • Ride Share & Alternative Transport
  • Rental Vehicle

Travel Entitlements when more than 100kms from your home address

You may choose from one of the following five options should your Nominated Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer with your Nominated Vehicle suffer a Breakdown 100km or more from the Driver’s Home and RACQ estimates the repairs will take more than 48 hours.

The Travel Entitlements chosen will be provided up until the End of the Incident, subject to your Maximum Entitlement. 

Option 1: Accommodation up to $550 per incident;

Option 2: Rental Vehicle for up to 5 days, up to $100 per day;

Option 3: Accommodation up to $330 per incident and Rental Vehicle for up to 3 days, up to $100 per day;

Option 4: Alternative Passenger Transport of economy class air, rail or coach for up to 5 people to the Driver’s Home or intended destination;

  • RACQ will also pay for the return air, coach, or rail fare for you, or one nominated driver, to collect the vehicle when it has been repaired.
  • RACQ will also arrange and pay for Accommodation until the next air, rail or coach service to your destination arrives, up to $330.
  • RACQ will not cover transport, accommodation or other expenses incurred by you on the journey to return Home afterwards.
Option 5: Vehicle Recovery:
  • RACQ will arrange and pay for a car carrier to transport the vehicle to your chosen location; 
  • RACQ will also arrange Alternative Passenger Transport and Accommodation, where necessary, for you and your passengers, as outlined in Option 4. 

RACQ may provision a Taxi, or Rideshare and Alternative Transport when required to assist with facilitating your chosen option, subject to your Maximum Entitlements.

End of Incident

RACQ will consider an incident to have ended in respect of providing Service and/or Entitlements when the first of the following occurs:

  • The Nominated Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer is mobilised; or
  • A Reasonable Time has been allowed to repair the Nominated Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer; or
  • The Driver has reached or been allowed time to reach the agreed destination once it has been agreed that Vehicle Recovery will be provided; or
  • The Maximum Entitlements have been reached; or
  • The Nominated Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer is at a Place of Repair and the Driver has returned Home (Alternative Passenger Transport will be provided to collect the vehicle once it has been repaired); or
  • The Nominated Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer cannot or will not be repaired.

Caravan or Trailer cover 

Roadside Assistance Entitlements can be provided for Breakdowns on Eligible Caravans or Trailers when they are with the Nominated Vehicle.

Key Assist:
Up to $110 p.a. subject to, and included in, your Maximum Entitlements.

Specialist Towing:
Up to $110 p.a. subject to, and included in, your Maximum Entitlements.

In the event the Nominated Vehicle suffers a Breakdown and requires towing:
The Eligible Caravan or Trailer with the Nominated Vehicle can be towed under the same conditions as Nominated Vehicle, within product Entitlements, provided it can be towed behind the attending tow truck. 

In the event the Eligible Caravan or Trailer, but not the Nominated Vehicle, suffers a Breakdown and requires towing:
If an Eligible Caravan or Trailer that is with the Nominated Vehicle (but not the Nominated Vehicle) suffers a Breakdown and requires towing, RACQ will cover up to 50kms of towing or, outside of the Metro Area, 100kms back to the Attending RACQ Service Provider’s Premises or an Intermediate Location. Subject to the size limitations.

Vehicle Recovery tow when more than 100kms away from home:
RACQ Everyday Plus does not cover Vehicle Recovery of an Eligible Caravan or Trailer.

RACQ Ultra Care

RACQ Ultra Care is designed to provide peace of mind when you travel longer distances or have multiple vehicles to cover.

Who is covered?

Your RACQ Ultra Care product entitles any Driver of your Nominated Vehicle to roadside assistance after a Breakdown.

Members with RACQ Ultra Care are entitled to Personal Roadside Assistance and can access Entitlements following a Breakdown in any Eligible Vehicle provided you are with the Eligible Vehicle when it broke down and remained when Entitlements are provided.

Travel Entitlements will only be provided if the Driver has an Australian residential address. RACQ may request that the Driver provide evidence of this. Where evidence cannot be provided RACQ may decline to provide the Travel Entitlement or require the Driver to pay for the relevant Travel Entitlement.

Waiting Period

A waiting period of 48 hours applies to the roadside assistance services. This waiting period for Roadside Assistance Entitlements can be waived if the member chooses to pay an Immediate Service Surcharge. If the member pays the Immediate Service Surcharge, during the waiting period roadside assistance will be provided for the Nominated Vehicle in accordance with the Entitlements of the RACQ Everyday product.

A waiting period of 72 hours applies for all other Entitlements from the start date of the RACQ Ultra Care product.

A 72-hour waiting period applies to a change of the Nominated Vehicle for Entitlements. During that waiting period roadside assistance will be provided for the new Nominated Vehicle in accordance with the entitlements of the RACQ Everyday product. A change of Nominated Vehicle does not affect the Member’s entitlement to Personal Roadside Assistance.

It is your responsibility to inform RACQ promptly of any change in details, including residential address, Nominated Vehicle and other relevant information. These details may affect your Entitlements.

The Member is entitled to roadside assistance call outs on any Eligible Vehicle, provided that the Member is with the Eligible Vehicle when it suffered the Breakdown and when Entitlements are provided, subject to the terms of our Excess Use program.

Attendance Our service providers will travel up to 120km to you when the Covered Vehicle experiences a Breakdown, has a Flat Battery, Battery depleted on Electric Vehicle, requires Wheel Changing, Lockout, or for the purpose of providing Emergency Fuel.
Towing If the Covered Vehicle cannot be made mobile on the roadside, we can arrange for towing up to 60km in any direction, or, outside of the Metro Area, up to 120km to the Attending RACQ Service Provider’s Premises or Intermediate Location.
Caravan or Trailer: Refer to Caravan or Trailer cover

General Entitlements

You are entitled to a Maximum Entitlement of up to $3,300 p.a.

RACQ Ultra Care entitles you to general entitlements on the Covered Vehicle, available up to the specified allowance, anytime per subscription year.

RACQ Everyday Lite The Member will be entitled to the service inclusions of the RACQ Everyday Lite product in respect of Eligible PMDs.

Local Entitlements when under 100kms from your home address

Should your Covered Vehicle or an Eligible Caravan or Trailer with your Covered Vehicle suffer a Breakdown and has been towed to a Place of Repair, you may claim a combination of the following entitlements up to $275 per annum until the End of the Incident as specified below.

  • Taxi 
  • Ride Share & Alternative Transport
  • Rental Vehicle

Travel Entitlements when more than 100kms from your home address

You may choose from one of the following five options should your Covered Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer with your Covered Vehicle has suffer a Breakdown 100km or more from the Driver’s Home and RACQ estimates the repairs will take more than 24 hours. The Travel Entitlements chosen will be provided up until the End of the Incident, subject to your Maximum Entitlement.

Option 1: Accommodation up to $770 per incident;

Option 2: Rental Vehicle for up to 7 days, up to $100 per day;

Option 3: Accommodation up to $550 per incident and Rental Vehicle for up to 5 days, up to $100 per day;

Option 4: Alternative Passenger Transport of economy class air, rail or coach for up to 5 people to the Driver’s Home or intended destination:

  • RACQ will also pay for the return air, coach or rail fare for you, or one nominated driver, to collect the vehicle when it has been repaired;
  • RACQ will also arrange and pay for Accommodation until the next air, rail or coach service arrives, up to $550;
  • RACQ will not cover transport, accommodation or other expenses incurred by you on the journey to return Home afterwards;

Option 5: Vehicle Recovery:

  • RACQ will arrange and pay for a car carrier to transport the vehicle to your chosen location;
  • RACQ will also arrange Alternative Passenger Transport and Accommodation, where necessary, for you and your passengers, as outlined in Option 4.

RACQ may provision a Taxi, or Rideshare and Alternative Transport when required to assist with facilitating your chosen option, subject to your Maximum Entitlements.

End of Incident

RACQ will consider an incident to have ended in respect of providing Service and/or Entitlements when the first of the following occurs:

  • The Covered Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer is mobilised; or

  • The Covered Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer cannot or will not be repaired.

Caravan or Trailer cover 

Roadside Assistance Entitlements can be provided for Breakdowns on Eligible Caravans or Trailers when they are with the Covered Vehicle.

Key Assist:
Up to $165 p.a. subject to, and included in, your Maximum Entitlements.

Specialist Towing:
Up to $165 p.a. subject to, and included in, your Maximum Entitlements.

In the event the nominated vehicle suffers a breakdown and requires towing:
The Eligible Caravan or Trailer with the Covered Vehicle can be towed under the same conditions as the Covered Vehicle within product Entitlements, provided it can be towed behind the attending tow truck. 

In the event the Caravan or Trailer suffers a breakdown and requires towing:
If an Eligible Caravan or Trailer that is with the Covered Vehicle (but not the Covered Vehicle) suffers a Breakdown and requires towing, RACQ will cover up to 60kms of towing or, outside of the Metro Area, 120kms back to the Attending RACQ Service Provider’s Premises or an Intermediate Location. Subject to the size limitations.

Recovery tow when more than 100kms away from home:
RACQ Ultra Care does not cover Vehicle Recovery of an Eligible Caravan or Trailer.

RACQ Ultimate Care

RACQ Ultimate Care is designed to offer extensive coverage for when you travel across Australia with your car and caravan.

Who is covered?

Your RACQ Ultimate Care product entitles any Driver of your Nominated Vehicle to roadside assistance after a Breakdown.

Members with RACQ Ultimate Care are entitled to Personal Roadside Assistance and can access Entitlements following a Breakdown in any Eligible Vehicle provided you are with the Eligible Vehicle when it broke down and remained when Entitlements are provided.

Travel Entitlements will only be provided if the Driver has an Australian residential address. RACQ may request that the Driver provide evidence of this. Where evidence cannot be provided RACQ may decline to provide the Travel Entitlement or require the Driver to pay for the relevant Travel Entitlement.

A change of Nominated Vehicle does not affect the Member to Personal Roadside Assistance.

Attendance Our service providers will travel up to 200kms to you when the Covered Vehicle experiences a Breakdown, has a Flat Battery, Battery depleted on Electric Vehicle, requires Wheel Changing, Lockout, or for the purpose of providing Emergency Fuel.
Towing If the Covered Vehicle cannot be made mobile on the roadside, we can arrange for towing up to 100km in any direction, or, outside of the Metro Area up to 200km to the Attending RACQ Service Provider’s Premises or Intermediate Location.
Caravan or Trailer Refer to Caravan or Trailer cover

Local Entitlements when under 100kms from your home address

Should your Covered Vehicle or an Eligible Caravan or Trailer with your Covered Vehicle suffer a Breakdown and has been towed to a Place of Repair, you may claim a combination of the following entitlements up to $480 per annum until the End of the Incident as specified below.

  • Taxi 
  • Ride Share & Alternative Transport
  • Rental Vehicle

Travel Entitlements when more than 100kms from your home address

You may choose from one of the following five options where your Covered Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer with your Covered Vehicle has suffered a Breakdown 100km or more from the Driver’s Home and RACQ estimates the repairs will take more than 24 hours. The Travel Entitlements chosen will be provided up until the End of the Incident, subject to your Maximum Entitlement.

Option 1: Accommodation up to $2,400 per incident; or

Option 2: Rental Vehicle for up to 12 days, up to $110 per day; 

Option 3: Accommodation up to $1,200 per incident and Rental Vehicle for up to 6 days, up to $110 per day; 

Option 4: Alternative Passenger Transport of economy class air, rail or coach for up to 6 people to the Driver’s Home or intended destination:

  • RACQ will also pay for the return air, coach or rail fare for you, or one nominated driver, to collect the vehicle when it has been repaired;
  • RACQ will also arrange and pay for Accommodation until the next air, rail or coach service arrives, up to $1,200;
  • RACQ will not cover transport, accommodation or other expenses incurred by you on the journey to return Home afterwards;

Option 5: Vehicle Recovery: 

  • RACQ will arrange and pay for a car carrier to transport the vehicle to your chosen location;
  • RACQ will also arrange Alternative Passenger Transport and Accommodation, where necessary, for you and your passengers, as outlined in Option 4; 
  • This option also includes Vehicle Recovery of an Eligible Caravan or Trailer with the Covered Vehicle.

RACQ may provision a Taxi, or Rideshare and Alternative Transport when required to assist with facilitating your chosen option, subject to your Maximum Entitlements.

End of Incident

RACQ will consider an incident to have ended in respect of providing Service and/or Entitlements when the first of the following occurs:

  • The Covered Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer is mobilised; or
  • A Reasonable Time has been allowed to repair the Covered Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer; or
  • The Driver has reached or been allowed time to reach the agreed destination once it has been agreed that Vehicle Recovery will be provided; or
  • The Maximum Entitlements have been reached; or
  • The Covered Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer is at a Place of Repair and the Driver has returned Home (Alternative Passenger Transport will be provided to collect the vehicle once it has been repaired); or
  • The Covered Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer cannot or will not be repaired.

Caravan or Trailer cover 

Roadside Assistance Entitlements can be provided for Breakdowns on Eligible Caravans or Trailers when they are with the Covered Vehicle.

Key Assist:
Up to $300 p.a. subject to, and included in, your Maximum Entitlements. 

Specialist Towing:
Up to $250 p.a. subject to, and included in, your Maximum Entitlements. 

In the event the nominated vehicle suffers a breakdown and requires towing:
The Eligible Caravan or Trailer that is with the Covered Vehicle can be towed under the same conditions as the Covered Vehicle within product Entitlements, provided it can be towed behind the attending tow truck. 

In the event the Eligible Caravan or Trailer (but not the Covered Vehicle) suffers a Breakdown and requires towing:
If an Eligible Caravan or Trailer that is with the Covered Vehicle (but not the Covered Vehicle) suffers a Breakdown and requires towing, RACQ will cover up to 100kms of towing or, outside of the Metro Area, 200kms back to the Attending RACQ Service Provider’s Premises or an Intermediate Location. Subject to the size limitations.

Recovery tow when more than 100kms away from home:
RACQ Ultimate Care does not cover Caravan or Trailer Recovery other than in accordance with Travel Entitlements as outlined above.

RACQ RV

RACQ RV is the product for travellers with RVs or Larger Vehicles, with entitlements catered to those who choose to travel.

Who is covered?

Your RACQ RV product entitles any Driver of your Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicle to roadside assistance after a Breakdown.

Members with RACQ RV are entitled to Personal Roadside Assistance and can access Entitlements following a Breakdown in any Eligible Vehicle provided you are with the Eligible Vehicle when it broke down and remained when Entitlements are provided.

Travel Entitlements will only be provided if the Driver has an Australian residential address. RACQ may request that the Driver provide evidence of this. Where evidence cannot be provided RACQ may decline to provide the Travel Entitlement or require the Driver to pay for the relevant Travel Entitlement.

Waiting Period

A 48-hour waiting period applies for RACQ Service Provider Attendance within 50km from the Attending RACQ Service Provider’s Premises.

A 72-hour waiting period applies to all other Entitlements even if another Roadside Assistance product has been previously purchased.

A 72-hour waiting period applies to a change to the Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicle for Entitlements other than attendance within 50km from the Attending RACQ Service Provider’s Premises. A change of Nominated RV or Nominated Larger vehicle does not affect the Member’s entitlement to Personal Roadside Assistance.

It is your responsibility to inform RACQ promptly of any change in details, including residential address, Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicle and other relevant information. These details may affect your Entitlements.

The Member is entitled to roadside assistance call outs on any Eligible Vehicle, provided that the Member is with the Eligible Vehicle when it suffered the Breakdown and when Entitlements are provided, subject to the terms of our Excess Use program.

Attendance

Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicle:
Our service providers will travel with unlimited km Attendance to your Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicle when it experiences a Breakdown, has a Flat Battery, Battery depleted on Electric Vehicle, requires Wheel Changing, Lockout, or for the purpose of providing Emergency Fuel.

Eligible Vehicle:
Our service providers will travel up to 200kms to you when your Covered Vehicle other than your Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicle experiences a Breakdown, has a Flat Battery, Battery depleted on Electric Vehicle, requires Wheel Changing, Lockout, or for the purpose of providing Emergency Fuel.

Towing

Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicle:
If the Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicle cannot be made mobile on the roadside, RACQ will endeavour to tow the vehicle to a destination of your choice, up to $3300 per annum, subject to, and included in, your Maximum Entitlements.

Eligible Vehicle:
If the Covered Vehicle other than your Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicle cannot be made mobile on the roadside, we can arrange for towing up to 100km in any direction, or, outside of the Metro Area, up to 200km to the Attending RACQ Service Provider’s Premises or Intermediate Location.

General Entitlements

You are entitled to Maximum Entitlements up to $7000 p.a.

RACQ RV entitles you to general entitlements on the Covered Vehicle, available up to the specified allowance, anytime per subscription year.

Service Inclusions
Key Assist Up to $600 p.a. (sublimit of $300 p.a. in aggregate for Eligible Vehicles).

Specialist Towing

Up to the Towing allowance of $3,300 p.a. (sublimit of $250 p.a. in aggregate for Eligible Vehicles), subject to, and included in, your Maximum Entitlements. 

RACQ Everyday Lite The Member will be entitled to the service inclusions of the RACQ Everyday Lite product in respect of Eligible PMDs.
Wheel Changing
Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicles

Wheel changing assistance may be limited and may incur an additional fee if the weight of the wheel and tyre assembly is beyond the safe lifting capacity of a single person. The vehicle’s wheel nut spanner, a jack, and associated tools including a baseplate, appropriate for your Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicle must be provided.

The RACQ Service Provider may deem it unsafe or impractical to change the tyre. In this case, a tow may be required.

If the RACQ Service Provider is unable to change the tyre due to the size of the vehicle for safety reasons, RACQ will pay for a heavy tyre service provider or truck to attend, subject to your Towing entitlement of $3300 p.a.

Pet Transport We will reimburse up to $200 p.a. to transport your pet to your Home, intended destination or a pet accommodation facility, or towards pet accommodation to a maximum of 5 days.

Local Entitlements when under 100kms from your home address

Should your Covered Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer with your Covered Vehicle suffer a Breakdown, and has been towed to a Place of Repair, you may claim a combination of the following entitlements up to $480 per annum until the End of the Incident as specified below

  • Taxi 
  • Ride Share & Alternative Transport
  • Rental Vehicle

Travel Entitlements when more than 100kms from your home address

You may choose from one of the following five options should your Covered Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer with your Covered Vehicle suffer a Breakdown 100km or more from the Driver’s Home and RACQ estimates the repairs will take more than 24 hours. The Travel Entitlement chosen will be provided up until the End of the Incident, subject to your Maximum Entitlement.

Option 1: Accommodation up to $2,400 per incident;

Option 2: Rental Vehicle for up to 12 days, up to $110 per day;

Option 3: Accommodation up to $1,200 per incident and Rental Vehicle for up to 6 days, up to $110 per day;

Option 4: Alternative Passenger Transport of economy class air, rail or coach for up to 6 people to the Driver’s Home or intended destination:

  • RACQ will also pay for the return air, coach or rail fare for you, or one nominated driver, to collect the vehicle when it has been repaired;
  • RACQ will also arrange and pay for Accommodation until the next air, rail or coach service arrives, up to $1,200;
  • RACQ will not cover transport, accommodation or other expenses incurred by you on the journey to return Home afterwards;

Option 5: Vehicle Recovery for the Eligible Vehicle that is a Covered Vehicle:

  • Excludes Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicle. View Nominated RV or Larger Vehicle towing;
  • RACQ will arrange and pay for a car carrier to transport the vehicle to your chosen location;
  • RACQ will also arrange Alternative Passenger Transport and Accommodation, where necessary, for you and your passengers, as outlined in Option 4;
  • This option also includes recovery of Eligible Caravan or Trailer with the Covered Vehicle.

RACQ may provision a Taxi, or Rideshare and Alternative Transport when required to assist with facilitating your chosen option, subject to your Maximum Entitlements.

End of Incident

RACQ will consider an incident to have ended in respect of providing Service and/or Entitlements when the first of the following occurs:

Roadside Assistance Entitlements can be provided for Breakdowns on Eligible Caravans or Trailers when they are with the Covered Vehicle.

Covered Vehicle that is not the Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicle suffers a breakdown and requires towing:
The Eligible Caravan or Trailer that is with the Eligible Vehicle can be towed under the same conditions as the Covered Vehicle, up to 100kms of towing or, outside of the Metro Area, 200kms back to the Attending RACQ Service Provider’s Premises or an Intermediate Location, provided it can be towed behind the attending tow truck.

Eligible Caravan or Trailer suffers a breakdown and requires towing:
If an Eligible Caravan or Trailer that is with a Covered Vehicle suffers a Breakdown and requires towing, RACQ RV will cover up to 100kms of towing or, outside of the Metro Area, 200kms back to the Attending RACQ Service Provider Premises or an Intermediate location. Subject to the size limitations.

Recovery tow when more than 100kms away from home:
RACQ RV will cover Vehicle Recovery of the Eligible Caravan or Trailer with the Covered Vehicle which is not the Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicle, subject to meeting the Travel Entitlement criteria and Entitlement limits.

Service Limitations

The decision as to whether Services can be provided for a particular vehicle will be at RACQ’s discretion.

Eligible Vehicle

Any motor vehicle or motorcycles (other than an RV, regardless of size) which meet the following criteria:

  1. Used at any time for private purposes;
  2. Registered;
  3. Roadworthy;
  4. Not an Ineligible Vehicle (see below). 

Ineligible Vehicle

RACQ does not cover motor vehicles or motorcycles that:

  1. are Taxis, limousines and other private rental hire vehicles;
  2. are Rental vehicles;
  3. are being operated solely for commercial use;
  4. are Trucks, buses and other vehicles that exceed the size limitations;
  5. are being offered for sale by licenced motor vehicle dealer;
  6. are Unregistered vehicles or vehicles on a day or temporary registration permit;
  7. are registered and unregistered tractors and farm equipment;
  8. are involved in or being tested for any form of racing or motor sports;
  9. are other vehicles as determined from time to time, details available from RACQ;
  10. are used as a permanent place of residence. A vehicle that has been situated at one location for more than four weeks may be deemed as being a permanent place of residence for this purpose but will not be classified as your ‘Home’ for the purposes of these terms and conditions or an Australian residential address for the purpose of determining eligibility for Travel Entitlements;
  11. exceeds one or more of the following Eligible Vehicle Size Limitations.

RACQ does not cover motor vehicles or motorcycles that exceed one or more of the following (other than Nominated RVs or Nominated Larger Vehicles covered under a RACQ RV Roadside Assistance product).

Eligible Caravans and Trailers

Other than for RACQ Everyday Lite, you are entitled to receive the applicable Entitlements set out in these terms and conditions for Eligible Caravans and Trailers.

Should your Eligible Caravan or Trailer require towing, RACQ will only be able to assist where your Running Gear is in a serviceable condition.

Should Specialist Equipment or excess distance be required, you will be required to pay the additional cost.

Should your Eligible Caravan or Trailer be greater than 3.5t GVM and requires wheel changing, assistance may be limited and may incur an additional fee.

The Caravan or Trailer wheel nut spanner and jack (heavy duty, if required) must be provided.

There may be some areas where an RACQ Service Provider is not able to offer assistance on a Caravan or Trailer and you may need to pay for the Service cost or claim reimbursement up to the limit of the Entitlement (view Reimbursements).

To be eligible, your Caravan or Trailer must meet the following criteria:

  1. Registered;
  2. Roadworthy;
  3. Does not exceed the size limitations.
  4. Not an Ineligible Caravan or Trailer (see below).

Ineligible Caravans and Trailers

RACQ does not cover Caravans and Trailers that:

  1. Are used as a permanent place of residence. A Caravan or Trailer that has been situated at one location for more than four weeks may be deemed as being a permanent place of residence for this purpose but will not be classified as your ‘Home’ for the purposes of these terms and conditions or an Australian residential address for the purpose of determining eligibility for Travel Entitlements;
  2. Use a fifth wheel (semi-trailer hitch), gooseneck or any other hitch type which is not compatible with a 50mm universal receiver;
  3. Are unregistered or rental Caravans or Trailers or those on a day registration permit; 
  4. Exceed one or more of the below size limitations; or
  5. are being offered for sale by licenced motor vehicle dealer;

Eligible PMD

Any motorised or non-motorised Personal Mobility Device (PMD) which meet the following criteria:

  1. Used for private purposes only
  2. Has at least one wheel
  3. Has a braking system
  4. Does not require a licence for operation
  5. Roadworthy (where applicable)
  6. Has dimensions which do not exceed 1940mm in length and 1500mm in width.
  7. Combined weight of the device and its operator does not exceed 300kg (weight)

Ineligible PMD

RACQ does not cover PMD's that are:

  1. Rented devices
  2. Golf carts, rollerblades, roller-skates, and other devices as determined by RACQ from time to time, details available from RACQ.

Eligible RV

You must nominate one Eligible RV that meets the criteria for Eligible RVs set out below. The Nominated RV is the only RV that is eligible to use the outlined Entitlements.

To be considered an Eligible RV, your RV must meet the following criteria:

  1. Used for private purposes only
  2. Registered
  3. Roadworthy
  4. The definition of ‘RV’ in these terms and conditions
  5. Not an Ineligible RV
  6. Not a Trailer or Caravan, or vehicle requiring towing behind another vehicle.

You must provide accurate information about the loaded dimensions and weight of your RV. The following measurements should be provided for your RV accurately at the time of purchasing RACQ RV:

  • GVM of vehicle
  • Total length of vehicle
  • Total width of vehicle
  • Total height of vehicle

Measurements must incorporate any accessory items including air-conditioning units, and any aftermarket accessory items such as fixed cargo pods.

Should your vehicle exceed any one of these limitations at the time of Breakdown, we cannot provide Service to your vehicle. RACQ reserves the right to deny Service if the measurements or other details you have provided are inaccurate or your Nominated RV exceeds any of these limitations at the time of Breakdown. If your vehicle is later modified and exceeds these limits, your RV may be ineligible for Service.

There may be some areas where an RACQ Service Provider is not able to offer assistance on an Eligible RV and you may need to pay for the Service cost or claim reimbursement up to the limit of the Entitlements (view Reimbursements).

If the Nominated RV already has an active Roadside Assistance policy, it cannot be nominated on any subsequent Roadside Assistance policy. This includes policies held by spouses and partners of the Member that cover or covered the Nominated RV.

Ineligible RV

RACQ does not cover RVs that :

  1. are used as a permanent place of residence. An RV that has been situated at one location for more than four weeks may be deemed as being a permanent place of residence for this purpose but will not be classified as your ‘Home’ for the purposes of these terms and conditions or an Australian residential address for the purpose of determining eligibility for Travel Entitlements.
  2. are rental RVs
  3. are being operated for any commercial use whether personally or as part of a business
  4. are being offered for sale by licenced motor vehicle dealer
  5. are unregistered RVs or RVs on a day or temporary registration permit
  6. are involved in or being tested for any form of racing or motor sports
  7. are already situated, or receiving services, at any garage, or service station, including that of an RACQ Service Provider, or undergoing mechanical or electrical repairs at your premises
  8. are Other vehicles as determined from time to time, details available from RACQ
  9. are A Caravan or Trailer that requires towing behind another vehicle or
  10. Exceed one or more of the following Size Limitations:

  1. Used for private purposes only

  4. The definition of ‘Larger Vehicle’ in these terms and conditions
  5. Not an Ineligible Larger Vehicle
  6. Not a Trailer or Caravan, or vehicle requiring towing behind another vehicle.

You must provide accurate information about the loaded dimensions and weight of your Larger Vehicle. The following measurements should be provided for your Larger Vehicle accurately at the time of purchasing RACQ RV:

Personal Mobility Devices

  • RACQ Service Providers are unable to work on a wheelchair or mobility scooter whilst it is still occupied by the operator.
  • RACQ Service Providers are unable to help with lifting a person out of a wheelchair or mobility scooter.
  • RACQ Service Providers are unable to assist with mobilising devices where the operator is not in possession of the required safety equipment.
  • Services may be limited in locations where a service provider cannot practicably gain direct access to the device, which may include parts of some shopping centres, parks, bike paths, and multi-storey buildings.
  • RACQ Service Providers have limited technical capability to assist with complex faults. Common issues where a patrol can assist are:
    • Inflating a flat tyre or replacing where the operator can supply a spare tube.
    • Where the battery is accessible, checking for loose and dirty connections.
    • Replacing a blown fuse where the operator can supply a spare.
    • Refitting of a slipped bicycle chain where the whole chain is intact.
    • Retightening of components which have come loose during general wear and tear.
    • For all other breakdown scenarios, it will be recommended that RACQ facilitate your PMD Transport entitlements.
  • RACQ Service Providers will not attempt any repairs to key safety components such as steering and brakes.
  • RACQ Service Providers will not supply any tyres and spare parts.
  • RACQ Service Providers will not assist with general maintenance items where the device is not immobilised.
  • RACQ Service Providers will not provide any service if there is damage caused by impact or collision.
  • The final decision on what work can be completed rests with the RACQ Service Provider at the scene.
  • RACQ Service Providers will not provide battery charging for PMDs.

Motorcycles 

Motorcycles requiring Roadside Assistance may experience delays in some rural areas, depending on the availability of equipment.

Electric Vehicles 

Regardless of your level of cover, you are entitled to receive the applicable Entitlements set out in the terms and conditions.

Service Exclusions

While RACQ will endeavour to assist you in all circumstances, RACQ at its sole discretion, reserves the right to refuse to provide Services.

In addition to those limitations already set out in these terms and conditions, we will not provide Services where:

  1. The damage is caused by an Insurable Event;
  2. You have suffered broken windscreens or windows;
  3. Your vehicle is an Ineligible Vehicle, Ineligible PMD, Ineligible RV, Ineligible Larger Vehicle or an Ineligible Caravan or Trailer or is otherwise not a Covered Vehicle under your Roadside Assistance product;
  4. Your vehicle is already situated, or receiving services, at any garage, or service station, including that of an RACQ Service Provider;
  5. You require supply of spare parts or tyres;
  6. You require maintenance or general mechanical repairs, including temporary repairs to steering, brakes or other safety components. In such cases Service will be limited to towing the vehicle to a place of repair within your Entitlements. Anything in excess of that distance will be charged to the Driver;
  7. You require transportation of passengers beyond the safe carrying capacity of the towing vehicle;
  8. RACQ has already provided a service in respect of the Breakdown, excluding the RACQ Ultimate Care, RACQ RV Entitlement of a second tow at no charge up to 20km;
  9. We cannot access your vehicle due to the location of the Breakdown or other factors out of our control (e.g. weather events or flooding);
  10. The Covered Vehicle, Eligible Caravan or Trailer or Eligible PMD is parked in a difficult to access area, including but not limited to; parking garage, 4wd track, beach or in an area without Constructed Road/ Driveway access. Refer to Specialist Towing;
  11. Your vehicle is carrying animals or livestock for commercial purposes;
  12. Your vehicle has suffered water ingestion including, but not limited to, traversing through flood waters or any other water crossing;
  13. There is an unserviceable/damaged steering lock.

In some instances, RACQ may provide a referral service to specialists who may be able to assist in the above situations at the Driver’s cost.

Home Repairs

If you attempt to do mechanical or electrical work on your Covered Vehicle, Eligible Caravan or Trailer or Eligible PMD and it won’t start or operate properly, you will not be entitled to receive Services from RACQ. We will, however, for Covered Vehicles provide a tow of 20km in any direction to a repairer at no charge, providing that the Covered Vehicle, and associated components are entirely intact. Any towing above this Entitlement will incur an additional cost.

Water crossings – Islands and inland rivers and creeks

RACQ will provide assistance on selected islands only, subject to availability.

RACQ will provide Services to the following locations within mainland Queensland where rivers need to be crossed:
Jardine, Daintree, Mossman and Noosa North Shore.

Where RACQ is able to assist you and RACQ or an RACQ Service Provider incurs additional costs in providing Services to you on an island or river crossing, for example, barge, ferry or additional towing costs, you will be required to pay any additional costs RACQ or an RACQ Service Provider incurs in accessing the Breakdown site.

If you Breakdown in a location where RACQ is unable to assist you, RACQ may be able to refer you to a local service provider.

Non-Serviced Remote Area

If for any reason an RACQ Service Provider in a Remote Area is unable to respond to your call, you may be required to pay for the Service cost from a third party and claim reimbursements up to the limit of the Entitlement (view Reimbursements).

Service Deposit

If you require Services on your vehicle and your Entitlement cannot be verified, then RACQ may require you to pay a deposit. This deposit may be refunded if RACQ is able to verify your Entitlement.

Non-original equipment manufacturer parts

Parts supplied by RACQ or our authorised stockist have been sourced from independent manufacturers and may or may not be genuine parts.

They comply with the manufacturer’s specifications for your vehicle and the relevant Australian Standards.

Non-standard vehicles

The sizes and weights noted in these terms and conditions include any accessories or equipment fitted on or to your vehicle at the time of Breakdown and any modifications made from the standard specification.

Excess use

Should you request Services more frequently than RACQ considers reasonable, RACQ may request that you ensure that your Covered Vehicle or Eligible PMD is placed in sound mechanical and Roadworthy condition. RACQ may refuse to provide further Services until you comply with any such requests or Service may be provided for a fee.

RACQ’s Excess Use program is used to identify, monitor and assist those members who are deemed to have made excessive requests for service.

As a mutual organisation, RACQ re-invests any operating surpluses back into the development of products and services that return the most value and benefit to members. RACQ therefore has a financial responsibility to ensure that Club services are distributed in a manner that benefits all members equally. Part of this responsibility is ensuring that members are not using the service in lieu of proper mechanical maintenance, or regularly requesting roadside assistance for the same recurring incidents. 

Other than Everyday Lite policies, the policy that has been placed in the Excess Use program will be at the RACQ Everyday level only, and will not be eligible for any upgrades to RACQ Everyday Plus, RACQ Ultra Care , RACQ Ultimate Care or RACQ RV.

Once a trend of excessive use has been identified, members will always receive a notification letter which provides information about the Excess Use program and how RACQ can assist them in reducing their breakdown frequency. 

Merchant fees and road tolls

RACQ will not charge you any merchant fees, credit surcharges or road tolls where it is providing Services in accordance with Your Entitlements. This waiver of fees will not apply where RACQ is providing Services outside of your Entitlements or in excess of any Maximum Entitlement.

Extra costs

In addition to those costs set out in these terms and conditions, extra costs will be your responsibility. Any repairs provided that incur an additional cost, will be at your expense.

Liability

Except for any rights that you are entitled to by law, RACQ and RACQ Service Providers accept no responsibility for any damage to your Covered Vehicle, Eligible Caravan or Trailer, Eligible PMD or other vehicles or property, including (without limitation) while in the care of RACQ or an RACQ Service Provider.

RACQ will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, including loss of income or any other expenses, or damage that arises from providing, or failing to provide, any Services.

Insurance coverage cost and risk are entirely your responsibility in all circumstances and you agree to indemnify RACQ and any RACQ Service Provider against any loss, damage or claims.

Reimbursements

Where RACQ is unable to provide an Entitlement to you, you may apply to RACQ for consideration of an ex gratia payment. Your application should include all relevant details, accompanied by the original receipt covering payment, be signed by you and submitted within 90 days of the call for Services.

Refund Entitlements

Our Services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

A member has 21 days from the date of purchasing Roadside Assistance to cancel their policy, and will be entitled to a refund of any subscription fees paid, provided no Service calls have been made or Entitlements have been used.

After 21 days, there will be no refunds if you have simply changed your mind during the term of your Roadside Assistance policy.

Maximum Entitlements

RACQ Everyday Lite - $100 p.a. (Including GST)

RACQ Everyday Plus - $1,100 p.a. (Including GST)

RACQ Ultra Care - $3,300 p.a. (Including GST)

RACQ Ultimate Care - $7,000 p.a. (Including GST)

RACQ RV - $7,000 p.a. (Including GST)

The value of Entitlements provided to you under any option or combination thereof will not exceed the maximum total within any one subscription year including:

  • In respect of RACQ Everyday Lite, PMD Transport
  • RACQ RV towing Entitlement
  • General Entitlements
  • Local Entitlements when less than 100kms from home Entitlements
  • Travel Entitlements when more than 100kms from home Entitlements (if applicable)
  • Any other Entitlement specified as being subject to, or included within, your Maximum Entitlements.

If the annual maximum limit or a limit on a particular Entitlement is exceeded, you must pay any costs of us providing Services in respect of which the limit applies to you until your limits reset.

 

Service Conditions

General Conditions
Call Outs You are entitled to roadside assistance call outs on your Covered Vehicle, Eligible Caravan or Trailer with your Covered Vehicle or Eligible PMD, subject to the terms of your Roadside Assistance product and our Excess Use program.
Towing

If the Covered Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer with your Covered Vehicle cannot be made mobile on the roadside we can arrange for towing in accordance with your Entitlements.

Deviation from the direct route on return to the Attending RACQ Service Provider’s Premises may incur additional fees.

This Entitlement is for one tow per Breakdown at no charge.

A second tow relating to the one Breakdown is available up to 20km in any direction at no charge under the following circumstances:

  • Members with RACQ Ultimate Care; or
  • Members with RACQ RV; or
  • Where the vehicle receiving service is a motorcycle and towing cannot be completed within the operating hours of the place of repair.

Towing Entitlements are not available in the event of lost or stolen keys or Lockout.

Specialist Towing

If following a Breakdown your Covered Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer with your Covered Vehicle requires specialist towing or has become bogged, RACQ will provide attendance in accordance with your Entitlements and assist where possible and where it can be accessed without leaving a Constructed Road/Driveway.

Additionally, specialist towing Entitlements will apply for Specialist Equipment and/or additional labour required for the relocation of your vehicle such as from a parking garage. Any additional costs above the annual specialist towing Entitlement amount will be at your expense.

This entitlement will not apply to Insurable Events.

Flat Battery

If your Covered Vehicle’s battery is flat we will provide a jump start, or when required, supply a RACQ battery for you to purchase, subject to availability.

Jump starts may be provided, up to 24-volt boost start only.

There is no cost for fitting an RACQ battery to the Covered Vehicle.

RACQ does not fit non-RACQ batteries.

Batteries cannot be fitted to or serviced in vehicles where there is limited access to the battery or substantial removal of vehicle panels is required.

Battery depleted on Electric Vehicle

If your Covered Vehicle’s Electric Vehicle battery is depleted, RACQ will provide you with a top up charge to enable the vehicle to be driven to the nearest Electric Vehicle charging station if in range.

If RACQ are unable to provide you with a top up charge, due to mobile charging equipment being unavailable or for any other reason, we will provide a tow to the nearest Accessible Charging Station or to your Home, subject to your Entitlements.

If you’re towed to an Accessible Charging Station, you’ll need to provide your own charging cable and/or adaptor to charge your Electric Vehicle.

Any costs associated with charging the Electric Vehicle will be at your own expense.

Emergency Fuel

Should your Covered Vehicle run out of fuel, RACQ can arrange for the delivery of sufficient unleaded petrol or diesel within your Entitlements to enable the vehicle to be driven to the nearest fuel station (subject to your Entitlements).

In circumstances beyond RACQ’s control, such as a fuel strike, RACQ may be unable to provide this entitlement.

Lockout

Should you have locked your keys in your Covered Vehicle, RACQ will provide attendance to unlock your Covered Vehicle. If RACQ cannot unlock the Covered Vehicle, we can help arrange professional locksmith services.

Professional locksmith services may incur additional fees to be borne by the Driver.

Please note that a number of vehicles have been specifically designed by the manufacturer not to be broken into. Following your request to retrieve keys locked in the vehicle, RACQ will not take responsibility for any damage that may occur and will require that a waiver be signed prior to any work commencing.

Wheel Changing

In the event of a faulty tyre or wheel, we will attend within your Entitlements to replace it with the Covered Vehicle’s spare tyre (provided that tyre is roadworthy and compatible).

Should a vehicle requires a jack with a lifting capacity of greater than 1.6 tonnes or the Vehicles overall GVM is above 3.5 tonnes, you will need to provide a heavy duty jack.

Should the weight of the wheel and tyre assembly be beyond the safe lifting capacity of a single person, you may need to pay an additional service fee.

Key Assist

If the key to your Covered Vehicle or Eligible Caravan or Trailer with your Covered Vehicle has been lost, damaged, or is inaccessible, where possible, RACQ will arrange and pay for the services of, but not limited to, a locksmith, towing, and/or personal transport in accordance with your Entitlements.

Services must be agreed by the Driver and RACQ and are not to include replacement of a key where a spare can be sourced locally.

If the Covered Vehicle is immobilised by an antitheft device, assistance will be provided to remove the device only.

You will be responsible for the cost of any replacement parts, ignition barrels, immobilisers, door locks and door keys.

Local Entitlements - Less than 100kms from Home Entitlement Conditions
Taxi

If you require a taxi, RACQ will arrange and pay after each towing event in accordance with your Entitlements.

Taxi services will be subject to the availability of taxis in the relevant area.

Ride Share & Alternative Transport

If you require ride share or alternative transportation needs, RACQ will arrange and pay for a ride share or alternative transport after each towing event in accordance with your Entitlements.

Rental Vehicle

If you require a rental vehicle, RACQ will arrange and pay for a rental vehicle in accordance with your Entitlements. Rental vehicle Entitlements will be subject to the availability of a suitable rental vehicle in the local area, and is subject to any conditions or restrictions imposed by the rental company.

RACQ will pay the daily hire rate, stamp duty, GST and tax up to the maximum daily Entitlement value.

You are responsible for all running and incidental costs, including any insurance excess fees that may apply in the event of a claim, and any deposit required by the rental company.

The rental company chosen will be at the sole discretion of RACQ.

Travel Entitlements - More than 100kms from Home Entitlement Conditions
Accommodation

The maximum allowance per incident applies to the accommodation costs for the room only (meals, mini bar, internet and telephone expenses are not covered).

Accommodation arranged will be proportional to the number of passengers.

The venue for accommodation is at the sole discretion of RACQ.

Rental Vehicle

If you require a rental vehicle, RACQ will arrange and pay for a rental vehicle in accordance with your Entitlements.

Rental vehicle Entitlements will be subject to the availability of a suitable rental vehicle in the local area, and is subject to any conditions or restrictions imposed by the rental company.

RACQ will pay the daily hire rate, stamp duty, GST and tax up to the maximum daily Entitlement value.

You are responsible for all running and incidental costs, including any insurance excess fees that may apply in the event of a claim, and any deposit required by the rental company.

The rental company chosen will be at the sole discretion of RACQ.

Alternative Passenger Transport

The form of alternative transport will be at the sole discretion of RACQ. Alternative passenger transport may include economy class air, rail or coach transportation.

Flights are only available on a commercial scheduled service airline. The provision of alternative passenger transport is subject to availability and any terms and conditions imposed by the Service Provider.

RACQ will cover the cost of base fares or rates and tax. Additional costs will be at the member’s expense.

Vehicle Recovery

Recovery will be conditional upon availability of a suitable car carrier operating within industry standards, and in some Remote Areas this may not be possible.

Should a sea crossing or vehicle storage be required you must pay the costs of the crossing or storage costs.

Should the cost of Vehicle Recovery result in your Maximum Entitlements being exceeded, you must pay the excess.

Vehicle Recovery is not available for lost keys. 

Should your vehicle be an Ineligible Vehicle, RACQ will not provide Vehicle Recovery.

Vehicle Recovery is not available for Nominated RVs or Nominated Larger Vehicles under the RACQ RV product.

Please note that Eligible Caravans or Trailers are only covered for this Entitlement for Members with RACQ Ultimate Care and RACQ RV.

Please note, there may be instances where the tow truck that the Member is travelling in with a vehicle may require a 12-hour rest period.

Pet Transport & Accommodation for RACQ RV only

We will reimburse up to $200 p.a. to transport your pet to your Home, intended destination or a pet accommodation facility, or towards pet accommodation to a maximum of 5 days.

This does not include pet accommodation that has been pre-booked by you. Your pet will be always your responsibility and must be handled by you.

It excludes out-of-pocket expenses incurred while your pet is being accommodated, other than the accommodation costs. The pet must be in the vehicle at the time of Breakdown.

RACQ is not liable for any personal injury, death or damage to, or loss of property, caused by your pet.

 

RACQ Membership Terms & Conditions

RACQ Membership terms and conditions applicable to all RACQ Members.

RACQ Membership is available to individuals and businesses that meet the relevant eligibility criteria.

Upon becoming an RACQ Member, the member agrees to be bound by the RACQ Membership Terms and Conditions and Constitution and any relevant product terms and conditions published by RACQ or one of its third party providers, which may change from time to time. The RACQ Member will have the rights set out in the Constitution for their membership class.

The member will remain an RACQ Member unless RACQ Membership is terminated in accordance with the Constitution, or the member ceases to hold an eligible product. Eligible products for RACQ Membership currently are Roadside Assistance (excluding Fleet Fee for Service), Insurance products (excluding CTP Insurance and Travel Insurance), Lifestyle and RACQ Bank products (excluding Financial Planning services and Cash PassportTM Platinum Mastercard). All services are subject to confirmation and validation by RACQ Membership records. RACQ must be notified immediately if your RACQ Membership card is lost or stolen.

 

Definitions

Accessible Charging Station: Accessible Charging Station is any Electric Vehicle charging station that can be accessed by the RACQ Service Provider’s towing equipment, together with the Electric Vehicle.

Attending: RACQ Service Provider’s Premises The location where the RACQ Service Provider providing the requested Services operates their business.

Breakdown: Your Covered Vehicle, Eligible Caravan or Trailer or Eligible PMD is immobilised due to mechanical or electrical fault, not including an Insurable Event.

Caravan: A two, four, or six wheeled registered vehicle that is towed by your Covered Vehicle, and includes a pop top or camper trailer, and is not an Ineligible Caravan or Trailer.

Constructed Road/Driveway: A Government-gazetted road or a driveway which is accessible under all weather conditions by a two-wheel drive motor vehicle.

Covered Vehicle: Your Nominated Vehicle, Nominated RV or Nominated Larger Vehicle (as appliable to your Roadside Assistance Product) or an Eligible Vehicle in respect of which you are entitled to Personal Roadside Assistance.

Driver: A licenced person (including a Member) who is driving the Covered Vehicle and who requests Services following a Breakdown

Electric Vehicle: A vehicle with one or more motors that are partially or solely powered by electricity for propulsion. This includes battery electric (BEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), hybrid (HEV) and fuel cell (FCEV) vehicles.

Eligible Caravan or Trailer: Any Caravan or Trailer that meets the criteria for Eligible Caravans and Trailers here

Eligible Larger Vehicle: Any Larger Vehicle which meets the criteria for Larger Vehicles here

Eligible RV: Any RV which meets the criteria for Eligible RV’s here

Eligible PMD: Any personal mobility device that meets the criteria for Eligible PMD's here.

Eligible Vehicle: Any motor vehicle or motorcycle that meets the criteria for Eligible Vehicles here.

End of Incident: Where Entitlements can no longer be provided due to the meeting of criteria for End of Incident.

Entitlements: The Service allowances and limits applicable to your Roadside Assistance product as set out in these terms and conditions.

Home: The Driver’s principal place of residence in Australia. It is your responsibility to inform us of your correct residential address. Proof of this may be required at the time of claiming Entitlements. If you reside at a location for four weeks or more, this may be classified as your Home.

Immediate Service Surcharge: A fee payable at the inception of a new Roadside Assistance policy where immediate service is required.

Ineligible Caravan or Trailer: Any Caravan or Trailer that is not an Eligible Caravan or Trailer.  See criteria for Eligible Caravans or Trailers and Ineligible Caravans or Trailers  here.

Ineligible Larger Vehicle: Any Larger vehicle that is not an Eligible Larger Vehicle. See criteria for Eligible larger Vehicles here

Ineligible PMD: Any Personal Mobility Device that is not an Eligible PMD. See criteria for Eligible PMDs and Ineligible PMDs here.

Ineligible RV: Any RV that is not an Eligible RV. See criteria for Eligible RV’s here

Ineligible Vehicle: Any motor vehicle or motorcycle that is not an Eligible Vehicle. See criteria for Eligible Vehicles and Ineligible Vehicles here.

Insurable Event: Damage to a vehicle of any type which is, or could have been, covered by a motor vehicle insurance policy, including but not limited to accident, fire, flood, theft and/or slashed tyres.

Intermediate Location: A location along the most direct route from a Breakdown site to the Attending RACQ Service Provider’s Premises.

Larger Vehicle: Passenger vehicle, ute, cab-chassis or van that weighs more than 4.5T but no more than 8T GVM.

Maximum Entitlements: The aggregate maximum annual value of General Entitlements, Local Entitlements, and Travel Entitlements or other Entitlements which are expressed to be subject to, or form part of, your Maximum Entitlements to which a Member is entitled for each policy period. Member: A person that holds Roadside Assistance.

Metro Area: Areas within the greater Gold Coast, Brisbane or Sunshine Coast regions.

Nominated Larger Vehicle: An Eligible Larger Vehicle with registration details listed on an RACQ RV policy.  See criteria for Eligible Larger Vehicles here.

Nominated RV: An Eligible RV with registration details listed on an RACQ RV policy. See criteria for eligible Larger Vehicles here.

Nominated Vehicle: An Eligible Vehicle with registration details listed on a Roadside Assistance policy.

Personal Mobility Device: A personal transportation device with at least one wheel which does not require a license for legal operation and is not a motor vehicle or motorcycle.

Personal Roadside Assistance: With respect to a Member, an entitlement to receive Entitlements for any Eligible Vehicle in which the Member is travelling.

Place of Repair: A commercial premises where mechanical and electrical repairs are carried out.

RACQ: In relation to the provision of Roadside Assistance products, Services and Entitlements, refers to RACQ Operations Pty Ltd (ACN 009 663 414) and otherwise refers to The Royal Automobile Club of Queensland Limited.

RACQ Member: A member of The Royal Automobile Club of Queensland Limited.

RACQ Membership: Membership in The Royal Automobile Club of Queensland Limited in accordance with its Constitution and Membership Terms and Conditions

RACQ Service Provider: A person engaged by RACQ to provide Services.

Reasonable Time: The time deemed sufficient by an RACQ Service Provider to effect a typical repair, subject to the availability of a qualified mechanic and necessary parts to affect the repair.

Recovery: The transportation of your Covered Vehicle to another location using a conventional car carrier.

Remote Area: Any area where Roadside Assistance cannot be provided from an RACQ Service Provider or a service provider affiliated with an interstate Automobile Club/Association.

Roadside: The standard level of Roadside Assistance provided to you in the event that your Covered Vehicle or Eligible PMD breaks down.

Roadside Assistance: The suite of products offered by RACQ, including RACQ Everyday Lite, RACQ Everyday, RACQ Everyday Plus, RACQ Ultra Care, RACQ Ultimate Care and RACQ RV which, provide various levels of Entitlements.

Roadworthy: Meets the safety requirements for registration of the vehicle in the jurisdiction in which it is located.

Running Gear: The Caravan or Trailer’s axle and wheel assemblies, springs, draw bars and couplings.

RV: A self-propelled recreational vehicle which offers living accommodation combined with a vehicle engine.

Service/s: Attendance at your request where the Covered Vehicle has suffered a Breakdown, or any one or more of the other Services outlined in this document.

Shell Width: The maximum distance measured across the body of the Caravan or Trailer.

Specialist Equipment: Equipment not normally operated by or made available to an RACQ Service Provider, or equipment normally operated by an RACQ Service Provider where the use, or method of use, is not normally associated with the provision of the Services.

Track Width: The overall tyre width and the linear distance between the exteriors of the ‘Sidewalls’ of an inflated tyre, including elevations due to labelling, decorations, or protective bands or rib.

Trailer: A two, four, or six wheeled registered boat, horse or dog trailer or any other type of trailer towed behind your Covered Vehicle, where the trailer is not an Ineligible Caravan or Trailer.
