RACQ

RACQ traces its proud heritage back to a chilly May night in 1905, when 12 locals gathered at Brisbane’s School of Arts. They were determined to establish a strong voice for motorists at a time when “horseless carriages” were viewed as a menace by much of society.

From this humble beginning, the club quickly grew into a powerful representative for Queensland motorists that has constantly expanded and improved member services to ensure it remains “a must for all Queenslanders”.

Our iconic road patrols took to the streets in 1925 and have since rescued more than 25 million Queenslanders from the roadside. From 1918, we provided touring and travel services to members; today they include a myriad of multimedia services and 10 RACQ travel branches to ensure that, no matter the journey, we can help make it easier.

Our 1.2 million members save approximately $33 million a year on insurance premiums and $10 million annually through the Show your Card & Save discount program.

As Queensland’s peak motoring organisation, RACQ is recognised as the key advocate on behalf of Queensland drivers and their families. Last year, newspapers devoted almost two million column centimetres to discussing RACQ-related issues. Glue them together and that newspaper column would stretch for 20 kilometres!

Our efforts on behalf of Queensland motorists were just as evident on radio and television, with 284 hours devoted to RACQ-related issues. That may not sound like much until you realise that’s the equivalent of watching Titanic 90 times back-to-back!

The club also devotes more than $2 million annually to community sponsorships, highlighted by our long term commitment to the RACQ Helicopter Rescue Network.

We are a mutual association committed to making the everyday lives of members easier; whether through our world-class roadside assistance or providing any of our 35 products and services. These include:
