Thousands of Australians will make the pilgrimage to Alice Springs for the ultimate festival of wheels, Red CentreNATS.

Automotive fans will immerse themselves in all things motoring, including burnouts, drag racing, show ’n’ shine, four-wheel-driving, grass driving, motorkhana and more, plus the famous street parade.

Northern Territory Major Events Company CEO Tim Watsford said it was one of the most unique motoring events in the country.

“Red CentreNATS is unique as the only place in Australia where you can legally drive your highly modified vehicle on the roads thanks to a one-off permit,” Mr Watsford said.

“It’s pretty special to see these cars cruising the streets of Alice.

“Red CentreNATS also makes a great road-trip destination, with landmarks like Uluru and Watarrka all within reach.”

Summernats co-owner Andy Lopez said the event had something for everyone.

“With elite cars, drag racing, burnouts, motorkhana, concerts, and an amazing street parade, the Red CentreNATS is an incredible event for spectators,” Mr Lopez said.

The 2021 event attracted more than 1,000 entrants, which made for an incredible show for spectators.

The Red CentreNATS will be held from 2-4 September.
