Unleash your creative flair at the Southern Downs Art Trails

Out and About

This year’s Southern Downs Art Trails is combining two well-established events to create the ultimate spring arts festival.

Southern Downs Art Trails will see two popular events join forces.

Get ready to channel your inner Picasso because the Granite Belt Art and Craft Trail (GBART) and the Condamine Country Art and Open Studio Trail (CCART) are joining forces this year to bring Queensland residents the ultimate spring Southern Downs Arts Trails.

The two events will co-exist with CCART starting in even years from 6–7 November 2022 and GBART in odd years from 27–29 October 2023 to bring art enthusiasts the best of both trails.

CCART Founder Karina Devine said the new initiative would create a better environment for both trails to continue supporting each other as well as providing artisans the chance to contribute to both festivals.

“Our Artisans tell us that they miss out on enjoying the art trails themselves because they are so busy getting ready or so tired after wrapping up that it is difficult to support the other trail when they were both so close together every year,” Ms Devine said.

“Alternate years will be much better for the artisans and organisers.”

About three hours’ drive from Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast respectively, this year’s trail is the ideal place for budding artists to be inspired as they get the chance to meet artisans, take a class and enjoy the experience of trying something new.

GBART President Roxane Scott said they were looking forward to supporting both trails to provide attendees with a fun and immersive annual arts trail.

“We are really looking forward to supporting our sister trail,” Ms Scott said.

“There have already been discussions about organising a bus trip from the Granite Belt to share the fun of Condamine Country.

“Together, we have all your annual arts trails needs covered.”

With an already established name on the art and cultural tourism map, this year’s Southern Downs Art Trails will boast a diverse range of artisans and producers and is destined to inspire creative expression for those wanting to attend.
