Meet RACQ’s Mobility Centre Manager

Rob started with RACQ in roadside assistance and quickly became involved in community events like RACQ MotorFest, volunteering with the RACQ Foundation, and supporting disaster recovery efforts.
His commitment and leadership allowed him to step into the role of Contract Area Manager, overseeing a quarter of Queensland’s roadside assistance and towing operations.
Today, Rob brings that same passion to his role as Manager of the RACQ Mobility Centre.
“The Mobility Centre is a unique space where innovation meets safety,” Rob said.
“Universities and research institutions use the facility to trial cutting-edge vehicle technologies, including autonomous systems and electric vehicle performance, in a controlled and secure environment.”
The Mobility Centre also plays a vital role in road safety education, delivering advanced defensive driving courses focusing on low-risk driving, hazard perception, and vehicle control.
“I’m responsible for all operations here – from the smallest hirer to the biggest manufacturers,” Rob said.
“Everyone comes with a vision, and our job is to make it happen in the safest way possible.”
What Rob loves most about his role is that no two days are the same.
“One day I might be talking to the CEO of a global car manufacturer, the next it could be a V8 Supercar driver – and on rare occasions, even a Hollywood star.”
The Mobility Centre hosts an incredible range of activations, with more than 1,500 events taking place in the past year alone.
“Some highlights include filming for upcoming movies like Bear Country, Spa Weekend, Runner, and the TV series Good Cop Bad Cop.”
The team also hosts the Porsche Experience around 40 days a year and works with almost every major manufacturer, giving RACQ a front-row seat to the latest models hitting the market.
“It’s an exciting place to be – the variety keeps it fresh, and the people make it rewarding,” he said.
“Every day we’re helping create something special.”
