The most affordable version of Kia’s all-new Tasman ute will be priced below $40,000, but at this price you’ll need to add your own tray.

Kia has already released pricing for its Tasman pickup range but has now detailed pricing for an additional five single- and dual-cab pickup variants ranging from the entry-level Tasman S 4x2 single-cab chassis priced at $38,010 (MRLP), to the Tasman SX 4x4 dual-cab chassis which costs $52,740 (MRLP).

Pricing for the previously announced pickup range starts at $42,990 or $46,490 driveaway for the Tasman S 4x2 dual-cab pickup, rising through six variants to the range-topping Tasman X-Pro 4x4 dual-cab pickup which costs $74,990 (MRLP), or $79,990 driveaway.

The pricing pitches all 11 Tasman variants right into the heartland of market-leading rivals including the Toyota HiLux, Ford Ranger and Isuzu D-Max, with Kia CEO Damien Meredith saying he expects the Tasman to become a top-four player in Australia’s ultra-competitive ute segment within a year.

While much of the media attention around the high-profile launch has been on the volume selling 4x4 and to a lesser extent 4x2 pickup models, Kia clearly recognises that it needs to also have a range of competitively priced cab-chassis offerings with 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains if it is to mix it with the segment heavyweights.

The Tasman cab chassis variants are offered in only S and SX trim grades, while the pickup range extends to the better-specified SX+, X-Line, and X-Pro trim grades.

The Tasman single-cab chassis range spans three variants, opening at $38,010 (RRP) for the S 4x2, with the S 4x4 at $45,010 (RRP), and the SX 4x4 at $49,520 (RRP).

The dual-cab chassis line-up covers two variants, with the S 4x4 at $48,240 (RRP), and the SX 4x4 at $52,740 (RRP).

A spokesperson for Kia said the two dual-cab chassis variants will be in dealerships from August, with the single-cab chassis variants due to follow in late 2025.

All Tasmans can be paired with a range of over 40 Kia genuine accessories including steel and aluminium trays for the cab-chassis variants, plus under-tray drawer, toolbox, water tank, three different bull-bars, side-step and tow bars.

All Tasmans are based on a new ladder-frame chassis with double wishbone front suspension and solid-axle four-layer leaf spring rear suspension.

Power comes from a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine developing 154kW/440Nm and driving through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Four-wheel drive variants feature a two-speed transfer case enabling selection of two- and four-wheel drive high range (2H/4H), and four-wheel drive low-range (4L).

An additional 4x4 Active (4A) is standard on all 4x4 models, providing the ability to send power between the front and rear axles automatically.

All 4x4 models below the top-spec X-Pro also feature a reactive mechanical rear differential lock, which goes beyond typical limited-slip differential performance by locking the rear wheels together when a loss of forward traction is detected.

Tasman braked towing performance is rated at a category-competitive 3,500kg with a 350kg tow ball weight rating.

All variants come with payload ratings exceeding 1,000kg, with even the best equipped X-Pro 4x4 capable of carrying 1,013kg.

Dual-cab variants have a gross vehicle mass (GVM) rating of 3,250kg, contributing to a gross combination mass (GCM) rating of 6,200kg.
