LandCruiser 300 Series gets new turbo petrol hybrid V6
Toyota’s LandCruiser 300 Series to adopt a powerful new turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain.

The Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series is set to add a new petrol powertrain to the current diesel-only lineup early next year, in the form of a 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 paired with an electric motor generator in a parallel hybrid arrangement.
Due in the first half of 2026, the new hybrid V6 is claimed to be most powerful drivetrain yet fitted to a LandCruiser, meaning it will surpass the outputs of the current 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel engine, which generates 227kW/700Nm.
Although Toyota hasn’t said as much, it’s believed to be the same powertrain currently fitted to the Tundra full-size pickup and will soon also due to be added soon to the 300-Series-based Lexus LX range as the LX700h.
Toyota hasn’t yet released performance figures for its new powertrain, but in the US the Lexus LX700h boasts outputs of 336kW/790Nm.
Toyota claims the new powertrain delivers exceptional smoothness, strong towing capability, and improved performance over the existing diesel powertrain.
Despite this, the car maker says the performance hybrid powertrain has been developed with true off-road capability and reliability front of mind, with the electric motor able to provide smooth and even throttle response in tough terrain.
Toyota Australia is promising further details on the new LandCruiser performance hybrid closer to its local launch in the first half of 2026.
