Viewpoint: The President's perspective

Clubhouse
It’s the end of the financial year and this is when we reflect on our performance and what we have delivered for our members and Queenslanders more broadly.
Leona, right, with Chief Executive Community MJ Bellotti in the RACQ Members Lounge at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

You will see when you read our FY26 Annual Report how we have supported our members in meaningful ways by advocating on their behalf for safer roads, supporting our communities, and helping ease cost-of-living pressures.

Improving road safety is and remains a top priority for RACQ and as part of Queensland Road Safety Week recently, we continued to raise awareness of the State’s increasing road trauma through powerful community activations and engagement.

More than 69,000 people took part in our education programs helping to build safer driving habits on our roads, including the introduction of ‘The Coaching Lane: The Learner Launchpad’, to support parents as they guide the next generation of drivers.

We reduced our roadside assistance prices by about 10% and continued to deliver value through our Member Benefits program with more than $22 million in savings across fuel, groceries and everyday essentials over the past year.

Our team responded to more than 715,000 roadside assistance callouts across Queensland, helping members get back on the road safely when they needed it most.

Our work in the community is equally important. Our people, alongside other volunteers contributed more than 4,000 hours across community projects and initiatives to help strengthen resilience and social connection throughout Queensland.

None of this would have been possible without our members. I am grateful for your ongoing support and the continued trust you place in RACQ.

That support not only enables the work we do across Queensland, it also allows us to continue creating sought-after experiences that bring members closer to their Club.

I recently took the opportunity to attend an event at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre at Boondall and was fortunate to mingle with some members in our VIP Members Suite and spent some time in the RACQ Members Lounge which is accessible to all members.

It was great to enjoy this experience alongside our members, and I’m excited to be hosting an event in our suite later this year. I invite you to enter a competition to come and join me. Keep your eyes open for details so you don’t miss out.

Finally, as a reminder, our 121st AGM will take place on 7 October, and I encourage you to attend in person at our Eight Mile Plains office or join us online.

This year’s meeting will provide members with an update on our performance and strategic priorities and give members the opportunity to have their input on the Club’s advocacy focus in the year ahead. You can vote beforehand or join us at the AGM and discuss your views directly with us.

I hope to see you there.
