Toyota updates LandCruiser 300 Series safety and tech features
Toyota has upgraded its LandCruiser 300 Series lineup, but there are also price hikes across the range.

You will need a $97,990-sized wedge to drive out of a showroom in the entry-level GX Grade of Toyota’s recently updated LandCruiser 300 Series, with the first major upgrade since the model’s launch in late 2021 bringing price hikes of between $999 and $2,029 across the six-variant range.
The five-seat 300 Series GX is now $999 more expensive than its predecessor, with the largest price hike reserved for the GXL which costs $2,029 more, and with the range now topping out at $146,910 (MRLP) for the Sahara ZX, which has also seen an increase of $1,119.
In announcing the updates, Toyota was keen to point to multiple improvements to safety and multimedia technology and increased comfort and convenience features as justification for the price increases.
This includes adoption of the latest generation of Toyota Safety Sense driver assistance technologies along with an upgraded multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Upgrades to LandCruiser models
For the entry-level GX, the active safety feature upgrades include the addition of lane trace assist with steering wheel vibration, emergency steering assist, an emergency driving stop system, and the addition of parking guidelines to the reversing camera.
The GX now gets a smaller 8.0-inch touchscreen display in place of the previous 9.0-inch unit, but there’s a new 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster ahead of the driver in place of the old 4.2-inch multi-instrument display with analogue gauges.
The addition of powered tilt and telescopic steering column is another handy improvement.
The GX joins all other 300 Series models in adopting Toyota’s latest-generation multimedia system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with DAB+ digital radio, Bluetooth compatibility and voice recognition.

Toyota Connected Services functionality has also been expanded to include remote air-conditioning function and cloud-based connected navigation which can offer drivers points of interest, help with on- and off-street parking options and provide live traffic updates.
LandCruiser 300 Series price changes
Stepping up from the GX to GXL Grade now requires a $110,820 (MRLP) commitment but the mid-grade variant gets enhanced safety features in the form of safe-exit assist, which helps mitigate the chance of a collision when exiting the vehicle on the roadside, and rear parking support brake to help detect obstacles and passing vehicles when reversing out of a parking space.
Inside, the GXL also gets the 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, four-zone automatic climate control (up from two-zone), a centre console cool box, suede-like fabric upholstery, eight-way driver’s seat powered adjustment with lumbar support, 40/20/40 split-folding second-row seats and a second-row centre armrest.
The luxuriously appointed VX grade is now priced from $122,510 (MRLP) and adopts a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster to match the 12.3-inch multimedia system touchscreen with connected and embedded satellite navigation.
The VX also gets eight-way powered front-passenger-seat adjustment and a powered tailgate, plus a new front HDMI port replacing the former DVD/CD player for media playback, a feature also adopted on Sahara, GR Sport and Sahara ZX variants.
Next on the 300 Series model walk is the $139,310 Sahara which remains mostly unchanged, other than the addition of new infotainment software and digital instruments, despite a $1,119 price hike.
The off-road-focussed GR Sport grade is also largely unchanged, other than the addition of a puddle light on the inside of the tailgate, with its $146,160 (MRLP) price tag representing an increase of $1369 on its predecessor.
The Sahara ZX remains king of the 300 Series lineup, with its opulent fitout commanding a $146,910 price tag, up $1,119 on the 2024 model.
What powers the 300 Series?
Now, as before, all LandCruiser 300 Series variants are powered by a 3.3-litre twin turbo-diesel V6 engine producing 227kW/700Nm, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission which delivers power to all four wheels via a full-time all-wheel-drive system.
Every variant gets a locking centre differential, low-range transfer case, crawl control, downhill assist control and active traction control, while GXL and above add Multi-Terrain Select for enhanced capability in rugged terrain.
