A short deviation from the Matilda Way is Toogunna Plains Farmstay, tucked away between the towns of Quilpie and Eromanga.

This fifth-generation cattle and sheep property offers 18 stylish ensuite cabins and even has its own private airstrip for charter flights.

Just 28km south of Barcaldine, lies the natural oasis of Lara Wetlands.

This 6,070ha (15,000-acre) property allows campers to set up along the water’s edge among paperbarks, sandalwood and native grasses.

Silence at Lara Wetlands truly is bliss. With over 6.5ha of campsites, there is plenty of space for all who visit to enjoy privacy and a sense of peace.
