As an RACQ member you have access to a vast network of reciprocal motoring clubs through the Australian Automobile Association (AAA), which can be a handy thing when travelling overseas. Your membership can get you access to benefits like roadside assistance and discounts at certain retailers. Our international connections include Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), and Global Mobility Alliance.
If you're looking to drive in another country, it's always a good idea to consider getting an International Driving Permit (IDP). Every country has it's own rules about whether an IDP is required. You can browse the International Driving Permit Directory to see which countries require a permit.

International Driving PermitsAn International Driving Permit (IDP) is a translation of an individual's domestic Australian driver's licence photo card into nine (9) languages, assisting a licence holder to drive in a foreign country.
The Australian Automobile Association (AAA) is the only authorised body to sell IDPs in Australia. RACQ is the only authorised IDP sales agent in Queensland as appointed by the AAA.

RACQ is a member of the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). FIA clubs provide a broad range of services to each other's members, when travelling abroad for up to three months. Mostly, these services are similar to those we provide to you now. Many countries around the world provide reciprocal services, but not all.
To use FIA services while overseas, you’ll need your RACQ membership card.
